View Full Version : I'm Going Nuts..

So I got a pretty big problem here.
First, my center-left vent in my car likes to pop up, and stay up when I have the heat on in my car. It wont stay down or go down unless its real cold.
I went to the dealer, and they told me its not covered under warranty unless its broken, in which case they wouldn't warranty it anyways, and that adjustments are only valid for 12/20,000km. I'm super pissed right there, and I have the extended uber-warranty. I don't believe I should be dishing out money for a new vent at all, as its not broken, but it doesn't stay in place, either.

Second, and its a REALLY WEIRD thing to break, is a piece of plastic along the inside of the duct for the TMI on my car. It pretty much is a 1.5' piece of thin plastic, with a hook clip on each side, that slides inside the rubber seal, and clips into the inside of the duct to hold the rubber intact, so when I shut the hood, the rubber seal, seals. The one hook clip broke, no clue as to how, as I don't slam my hood or none of that stuff.
The dealer tried pulling up the part number off the part itself, and couldn't find it. They said to "use a Christmas tree clip", and I said no, I want it fixed properly, as this shouldn't break! They told me I'd have to spend $600 if I wanted it, because it comes only in a complete assembly with the duct for the intercooler. Like, wtf?! And they said to Mazda, the piece is broken, so no warranty.

I came back with the "if my engine breaks, you warranty that, but its broken?" Awkward moment of silence inserted here, then the but that is different speech.

What the hell is wrong with dealers these days? I buy a warranty for a reason, yet they do nothing to fix the problem when something goes wrong?

Should I call Mazda Canada and file a complaint? I mean, I love my car, and this shit should not break or come loose, at all.
End rant..

It's not worth buying the extended warranty from Mazda. It sucks. I've had bad luck with my first Mazda3 (04) and I had to dish out my own money to fix basic problems with it. Why pay the additional extended warranty when nothing ever is covered under it?

Anyhow, I wrote letters to Mazda Canada and they sent me a letter back with a thank you note. WTF? All it said that they will investigate the matter. Half a year later I write another letter regarding the complaint and to this day I did not receive any correspondents from them.

I traded my 04 Mazda (it was a lemon) for an 07 Mazda3 GT. The dealer tried to sell me the extended warranty and I declined. I prefer to keep that money and PAY for the problems that will arise!

My advice is to file a complain, but don't expect much from Mazda Canada.

Because a dealer is not willing to help you with a problem, you shouldn't buy the extended warranty?? :loco

Just try another dealer, and move on.

I'm very happy I bought extended warranty on my car. I've had a few items taken care of by MAP, that it has already paid for itself.

I'm happy I bought the extended warranty, considering I bought the car with 11k on it March 26/08, and currently have 45,400km on it as of now. I bought the 6/160k plan, but its just the dealer in Windsor has been stingy lately.
I used to go to Banks Mazda in Chatham, but I can't take any time off of work considering I work Mon-Fri and they don't open Saturdays.
I'm just going to back to Windsor again, and if they don't care, I'll have no choice but to use a sick day and go to Banks..

this does suck, I am not sure what the part is you are referring to, but it does sound like it should NOT break. Especially if it is a crucial part (not sure if it is) of your car. Anyways, I would send a detailed complaint to Mazda Canada because when i did about my Transmission, they replaced it without ANY questions (even though i had to pay for a new clutch which i thought was "mazda bs" but anyways).

Seriously, your dealership is feeding you a bunch of B.S. All of the items you listed should be fixed, end of story. Tell your service advisor that and then ask to speak to the service manager if he/she still won't help you. If the service manager won't assist you, ask to speak to the dealership GM and explain that not only will they be losing your service business, but that you will never buy another car from their dealership. I would also tell them that you are a TM3 member and will also be letting everyone know on a Mazda forum about the quality of their service.

Then, just take your business elsewhere...

Agreed, I think it's hit and miss on the extended warranty but then that's the whole point of the extended warranty. Some people will end up having to use it a lot whereas others not as much or not at all. Depends on how the components of your car hold up over time!

However not having your warranty honoured by a dealership is another matter alltogether. As The Biz said hopefully you can get to another dealership that will serve you better.

Bonne chance...

Well, the part of me not giving them my business is true/false 50/50. I bought the car from Ajax Mazda, but go to Windsor Mazda for all my service, to buy my oil filters, etc.
The vent and surround for the rubber seal on the intercooler should be warrantied no question. The service manager doesn't care. My next step is to talk to the GM since I know him on a good basis. Other than that, I have to make time to head out to Chatham Banks Mazda and bite it from now on.

The funny thing is a lot of people from TOP go there as well for things, either small or big. Yet they still don't seem to care.

Its not that different at all. In fact that situation happened to me... wasn't covered. If they wont fix small problems what makes you think they will fix the bigger ones? Poor service is poor service even after putting the dollar value out of the equation.
