That's okay I guess if you plan on going to SPL meets :chuckle
I would have choosen a more custom install for the subs though, ...just a huge box taking all that space lol.
I'm more into the SQ type system myself, in the less boom, tighter bass, more accurate sound kind of way!

well this is when i had the 2 10" clarions pxw1052s and the 600W 2 channel clarion amp. running on a stock deck. i just did it for shits and giggles and now i realize that my system is loud enough because ive been pulled over 3 times for noise pollution... never charged tho. i went for an SPL competition from the place where i bought all my stuff.i was 3rd out of 18 people. not at all bad for a guy ruunnin with a stock deck :D

not bad at all, i wonder how mine would do , considering iam spending close to 2 grand, what device do they use to measure the db and can i pick this up somewhere for cheap??
jaimie08mazda3
01-01-2009, 11:28 PM
2 grand you kidding me. all i spent was 800. and 200 of that was for wiring and installation.
mazdas3sporte
01-01-2009, 11:31 PM
mines costing around 330-360 just for install,
iam going with
Mb quart top of the line premium series speakers,
Pionner P700 deck
Exile amp for front speakers
twin pionner subs
Relocating deck to cigarte lighter area
Exile Amp for subs
Bassworkx box
around 1700 to be exact
jaimie08mazda3

well that explains it. your just completely redoing it arent you. i just dont like the idea of putting it by the cigarette lighter. but good luck with that
mazdas3sporte
01-02-2009, 12:45 AM
me eighter, but theres only 3 options, Jl Clean Sweep, double din in dash dvd player which costs $$$ or cigarete lighter area
jaimie08mazda3
01-02-2009, 12:48 AM
you dont have to get a double din you can get a single and then get a harness for it. i know because the guy where i get my parts from for the car even told me that you can do it with a regular deck

no i mean the first one. and you know what. thats a storage area. wouldnt be a bad idea incase for your sub you wanted an amp controller. wouldnt be a bad idea and not a pain in the ass either. trust me dude you will wish you had put it up there. plus if you think about it. your still gonna have the original deck there anyway. and there is no point in keeping it up there

that's pretty crazy...
best I've hit was in the high 143db range, that was back in the day with my Astro van only running 3 JL 15W6's. Because the van was so huge, it took a lot to get the microphone on the windshield to move
getting too old for bass....a simple SQ system is fine for me now!

oooh the horror, that poor hatch.

Close?
15" Kicker Solobaric,
5 cubic foot ported box, reinforced with steel rods (the person that owned it previously to me used it in a thunderbird and built a wall around it. he had a 15 DD in it and blew the front facia off)
Alpine amp.
It was loud, never metered though :(. I had no issues LIFTING the front wipers off the windshield, and cracked the windshield within a week :)
sub still works to this day, only its in a 1.1 sealed box in my trunk.
L7's are crazy though.

I think that fella should invest in a bigger ride kinda like a truck or an suv. That's wayy too much weight for the poor 3. :loco

Im sure the amp needed to power those subs would destroy the factory alternator. He prolly upgraded to a bigger one since the Mazda 3 amp is only 90A.

+1
I'm all about the tight, clean sound of a well put together system. I used to install for a living back in the mid 90's, was even MECP certified. Competed a few times myself. Man I do miss it...
I would love to do a set of 4-8"s across the back deck of the speed3 in a sealed enclosure.
That's okay I guess if you plan on going to SPL meets :chuckle

I think the first one is the way to go. thats what i did. but i have an 04 so there was nothing displayed for temp and fuel mileage like the newer ones on the deck so there was no use for me to keep it. that little compartment is great for putting things. even though once panasonic comes out with a gps double din im gonna loose it haha. but IMO i wouldnt put it where the cig lighter is. i think ur going to hate it. and what about putting in and taking out a cd. wont the shifter be in the way??

Do you find 10" subs' sound deep enough ? How much different from a 12" ?

i was goig to get a system , i researched for a month 24/7 no joke lol, total system cost would have been around 2100... but then after thinking hard and long i decided against it, when u sell the car u dont get jack shit for the system , like a grand max if ur very lucky , even parted out u wont get shit, i decided just to get my tints and thats its for me, spoiler and tint is good enough

It depends on how long you are going to keep your car for. I've spent around a 1000$ (without a proper sub, yet). If I sell my car soon, I won't regret because I've been enjoying it for over a year, well worth it.
As for subwoofers, you can move them to your new car without any problems.

for mine the install price is 4 bills, thats right out the window if ur selling the car and cant do the wiring ur self which takes hours, planning to keep the car for 5 years

10" subs can go just as low as 12's. It all depends on the enclosure. I have had many different set-ups from 4 X 8's, 4 X 12's, 2 X 15's and 2 X 10's. Loved the 4 X 8's the most I think. The 4 X 12's were a lot of fun too.
