I have on 05 and was wondering if I can reinstall my LCD display? I mean physically I can but will it serve any purpose even as a clock? If so how do you wire it since its plugged into the deck and for that matter how would I set the time? Something tells me i can't but thought I'd ask.

First plug the factory unit back in, plug the lcd in, set the time etc., unplug factory unit, replace with aftermarket unit, do not disconnect lcd. Hope this helps.

But my LCD is plugged into the factory unit. How can I keep it powered up if I remove the factory deck?

I think 05 and down you can't have it separate.

You unscrew it from the stock deck and then creative and find a way to attach it to the new deck

I understand this part.... What I am asking is how do you wire it up if it is plugged into the factory deck.

There is a separate plug for the LCD display only so you would just plug it in like normal. Like you won't have to splice into anything or do anything crazy. Thats how it was on my 07 so I assume its the same for all years!
You could use tape to keep the lcd screen up while you are installing the new deck so it is out of the way and yet it will still be plugged in
I think you might be SOL. I'm pretty sure it goes into the stock deck. You'll need to buy the kit that fills in the blank spot in the decoration strip.

Actually I think its different for older models.
Newer models have a separate harness for the screen, older ones the screen plugs into the deck which plugs into the harness.

Yeah I think I am SOL..... I have the install kit that turns the LCD are into a small compartment but I really don't like it... Has anyone else done any mods of another kind or is there only the one choice?
You can get the dash piece filled, or another option is to wrap it in CF.

It will be an option in the pull down menu.

I recall some issue with the above vendor. Erase this if I have the wrong company but didn't some members send off money and not get the part done or something?
Just bringing this up before someone else has a problem.
Like I said I could be wrong on the company.
