So I am picking up my new Mazda 3 today from a local Toronto dealership and I must say they were much more professional than the buffons at the dealership where I purchased my first Mazda 3. Just as an example, the first dealership somehow forgot to put the license plates on my car, and so I drove home "naked" as it were. Can't believe I didn't notice it but it was night time and I was more focused on the thrill of a new car.

So here's where my new car story goes a little off the tracks today. When I first started discussing the terms of the deal, I sat through the usual presentation of all the "extras" ie. warranty for this, warranty for that, and I realize this is profit for the dealerships, and that's business. So I leave extra warranty, rim coverage and rust proofing on the agreement, as "it's easier to take it off, then put it on", but still I need to research this stuff before I can truly make a decision. After reading some of the posts/threads on this site I come to the conclusion, I don't want any of it. So first thing the next business day I inform the business manager to take it all off. But unfortunately I don't speak directly to him as it is one of supremely busy days at the dealership. So just as a back up I e-mail him my request.

What do you think happens? They take off everything except the rust proofing, which kinda urks me because you know it's one of those things you can't remove, and for $750 it's not price comparative to Krown, which was my intented route. I'm not saying they did it intentionally, it is easily a miscommunication, but you know there was never an apology, just a disintegration into uncomfortable disagreement. Maybe this rust proofing product (Sym-tech) is fabulous and I'm getting value for the dollar, or maybe it washed away on the way home. Either way I'll let you know after my llifetime guarantee expires!

Hi Gmac123, glad to know that you are happy with your purchase experience...Always a good idea to research different products. The dealership you prchased your car from sounds quite familiar.

part of the problem I think is that the rust proofing takes a bit longer to apply, so they do it a day or two before delivery. granted you hadn't signed the agreement by then, so they shouldn't have applied it, but this could be one reason they didn't remove it.

I must say I am happy with my new car, even though it is essentially the same as my old one, but with the luxury package. I still think the dealership is one of the better ones around but I will make sure Mazda Canada gets their survey filled out with my thoughts and concerns.
BTW, I took one look at the 2010 and said "wtf" is with the front end styling? Sure Mazda is imbarking on a new design philiosphy, but come on...step back and take a look, there is a stupid grin on the front of the car, which screams "hello kitty" to me. That pretty much made up my mind that I was not getting an '10 when my lease ended in March.

i was told from the dealer that the rust proof they apply are the silicone type not the oil type that krown uses. i guess its better.

...And the dealership doesn't drill any holes, but at the same time, does the product penetrate effectively? No one likes holes drilled in their car, but is it the only way to access all the necessary places?

Typically when no holes are drilled, the car is placed on a hoist and the drain holes from the doors are used to spray the inside of the doors. The downside of this is that depending on the type of sprayer, the nozzle may not reach all the way up the door. The rest of the rustproofing can pretty much be applied without problems.

My experience with my dealer is somewhat strange. They were unable to advise the location my new vehicle whenever I call them, and this has been going on for ONE MONTH. They keep telling me they get vague reports once a week from Mazda Canada...WHATEVER!

I'm still waiting for them to call me to inform me of the arrival of the vehicle, but I doubt they will. I probably have to call them again for the 100th time. It makes me feel that either they are incompetent, or they are not interested at all in delivering vehicles in timely manner...

Did they give you a VIN? If they can't/won't then odds are they don't actually *have* a car for you....
