Hi all, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this problem before I take it in for service.

A few weeks ago, I tried lowering the front pass. window and it made a horrid sound...almost like there was a rock (maybe salt) somewhere that was rubbing against the glass. The window rolled down all the way as normal, just very loudly.

I've left it alone and planned to check it out in the spring, but when I tried it recently, it will only go down about 3-4 inches, still with the horrible sound.

I'm not positive, but I don't think the the motor is dead because it still goes up/down...just not all the way.

Anyone have a clue as to what happened?

I had this issue about a year ago with my driver side window. It turned out the motor needed to be replaced.

Thanks RR. Did you end up getting it fixed at the shop or is it something that is easily done at home? Spoke to Joe and the part isn't that bad, I just don't want to get killed on labour.

My car was under warranty at the time so the dealership took care of it. However, it shouldn't be hard since when I swapped out my door window trims, I saw the motor attached and is plug and play. I would definitely try it first before paying the dealership.

Wow your quick! I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
