Hey All,

Not sure if this should go here as it isn't really a good or bad experience more a concern. I just purchased a 09 Mazda3 last night at Ajax Mazda. They were supposed to call me this morning and let me know when they located the car I wanted since they did not have it in the colour I wanted in their stock.

The day went by and no one called me. Finally I got home and called and my sales guy said sorry but it was because of all the snow her was busy shovelling. Lol. I said it was okay. He said they found the car in my colour (Metropolitan Grey Mica) but it is in Kitchener, Ontario. That is about 144km give or take (i google mapped it. lol) He said they will send someone from the dealership to drive the car from their to here. Is that normal? I am just worried something will happen to the car on the drive or that the person driving the car may abuse it. I was hoping to get a new car that did not have 150km on it.

He said not to worry and he would take care of me, but I don't know what that means :P That's a pure salesman thing to say. Should I just ask to see if I can get a different colour that could be on their lot or at a closer dealership? Or is my concern just paranoia?

Thanks!

It is common practise, but I prefer to not deal with dealer trades.

Often the car in question could already have kms, or be missing the mats, have damage..

Better to buy from somewhere that has a larger inventory.. :P

oh jeeze...so basically then do I have the right to refuse the car as long as it is within 10 days of signing the contract?

I decided to buy from them because Ajax is where I live.

There is no waiting/cooling off period on a car purchase despite what people think.

You can either tell them you don't want the car to have 150 kms and cancel the deal or you can take a colour they have.

But you will need to act quickly as they may charge you if they get the car and then you decide to cancel.

Have you told them that the kms are acceptable? If so, you may have already sealed your fate.

Really? I was told that you had 10 days from when you signed the contract to cancel it or make any changes to it? I have been ill-informed.

When I spoke to him I said I am concerned about the car being driven from Kitchener. The kilometers dont worry me as much as the car could get damaged on the drive here since it is not a short distance.

He said not to worry about that and if the car does not check out when I see it then I could refuse it?

He said they will also wait for a day with good weather to go and pick up the car and he said the car is brand new and not a demo or anything.

I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the quick answers!

I never had a problem when I bought my Speed3 from them.
Good people to deal with..
Also, you have the right to refuse the car if it is NOT in brand new condition, meaning if there are scratches/chips or something of that nature on the paint.

So I picked up the car on Saturday and everything looked great. They had it washed and detailed and there were no visible paint chips or scratches I could see. My sales guy was really good throughout the whole deal and he threw in some extras for me. Everything aside I had a pretty good experience with Ajax Mazda.
