Here goes.

I was in my car replacing my speakers on the driver side and passenger side. As usual, taking off the door panel, unplugging the switches etc etc. All is done and I'm happy to have some upgraded sound (again)

My window is all the way up, Ive got powered windows.

I look and it appears that the very end of the window, the part that is inside the door is smashed. The glass isnt even straight, its like someone broke it and left it like that. I further inspected and I could not even find shards of glass, and what do ya know? Last person to open these door panels and touch shit in this general facinity is POS brampton mazda . They did my door security recall. Its the only people i can think of .

UNLESS before i go pointing fingers, this glass is supposed to be like this, passenger side didnt look like this. Odd thing is, my passenger window is really messed up, i can jiggle it side to side with my hand.. and it looks like it closes weird.. though the driver side seals properly as it should.. BUT i can push it about 1cm down with my hand freely and then it stops.

Can anyone verify if the glass is supposed to be like this? the top portion of my window is perfect, its the bottom portion being hidden by the door its self is where it looks like glass broke.. a clean cut thats kind of curved.

Pics?

The side windows are tempered glass... any break in the glass, and the whole thing fragments into small pieces. That's part of the reason vandals get kicks out of smashing them-- one hit and poof, the whole window disintegrates. So what ever the window looks like that, it's probably been that way since it was made.

If it really is smashed I don't know how it held together without any problems.

I would need to see a pic of this, I am guessing smashed is not the right term but I'm curious. I can tell you from my experiences that Noisy Crow is right on the money, if someone damages that type of glass the whole thing shatters.

When Prima did my recall I was watching and the tech had the window all the way up (i am fairly certain it needs to be up to do the replacement from my admittedly limited experience on other cars), so it probably didn't happen at that time, if it had you probably would have needed a whole new glass.

Again though, need pics to really understand what you mean.
