View Full Version : Possible Value of my 3?
So, I'm not sure what kind of details to give, so I'll say what I know about it.
Its a 2007 Mazda 3 GT, bought it off the dealer brand new.
used for 11 months.
all stock, really.. comes with 16" alloy if i recall.
mileage is 9100 - 9200 km.
Anyone willing to give me a reasonable, well-educated estimate as to its selling value?
Because, from the offer I've received for this, it pissed me off. D:
I would go on autotrader.com and compare your car to others and get an estimate off that.

You have to remember even if you've had it for 11 months, it's still at 2007, so it's technically 2yrs old.

As a point of reference, my 07 GT w/ sunroof fetched quotes at around $10k from dealers as a trade-in.

One thing you'll realise about mazda's.
The depreciation value of these cars is disgusting. LOL One day your cars worth 20,000 the next its worth 5000 lol (not that drastic) but mazda is one of the worse when it comes to keeping value.
They aint Toyotas! :P

Sorry but I have to ask you where is your evidence to back this up apart from anecdotal evidence which stands for nothing really.
"The Mazda3 holds its value at the level equal to industry average - 35-percent after five years." - http://car-reviews.automobile.com
"Here is where annual review of projected resale values for new models comes into play. It's produced by Automotive Lease Guide in Canada and it ranks Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and Mazda as the top five mainstream residual brands -- brands that consistently retain value best over three years. For luxury brands, Infiniti, Acura, Lexus, Audi and BMW are the five best at holding their value." - http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090112/AUTOS_car_deals_090112/20090112?s_name=Autos
Do a search if you don't believe me.

You go Fang!! :pop
"Trade-in" is always going to suck, you are better off selling yourself to get maximum value. As noted already, use the AutoTrader's "value finder" to estimate "Resale" value of your car.
thanks guys, really appreciate it. xD
i went to a nissan dealer, tried to do an exchange. we expected much more for our car, but the offer disgusted us, so we just cancelled the idea at the moment. anyways, thanks again :)

Actually, you are incorrect. Mazda's, and specifically the Mazda 3 hold their values a lot more than Toyota's. Now, one other company that holds its value is Honda. There aren't many that do, but Mazda is actually one of them.

Are you sure you're not just angry with your car because your clutch popped?

And the correct information is here:

Unsure about its source though but you could probably find it quickly on google.
Toyota is still at the top. Mazda is creeping on that list and has really changed its brand perception.

Market conditions can change very quickly.
Last June, I was trading my 2004 Mazda3, with 33klms.
Gas was $1.40 p/l, and dealers were talking around $10k.
Two weeks into June, a dealer in Toronto flooded the market with dozens of 3's,
starting at $6995! When you keyed in an Autotrader Search, this dealer's products
took the entire first page. When you hit page 2, you started to see Mazda dealer ads
starting at around $14k for GS cars.
Every dealer I went to referenced this ad, trying to lowball me. Didn't matter that that
the $6995 cars were tired with triple my mileage.
With current market conditions and the state of the economy, I couldn't imagine trading
in a car ... sell it privately, and minimize your losses. As new cars have come down in price, proportionately, so have used cars.
BTW, I sold my 2004 for around $10, and kept my 2008 Mazda3, which I will drive until
the wheels fall off .... gotta get the value out of 0% for 5 years!

from what i seen your car should be worth around 13-15 $ if you sell it privately. I dont think you can get much more than that.
Good luck
