I have a 06 mazda 3 sport gs auto, had the tranny fluid changed and the filter at 50,000km. When my mech was done he went for a road test and noticed a slipage from 1st to 2nd under moderate accleration. When you put it in manual mode from 1st-2nd at around 5500 rpm it takes about 3 or more seconds for the tranny to kick into 2nd. Is the auto tranny supposed to have a delay or is there something wrong with it?? Also it thumps sometimes out of nowhere going into 4th.

Wait until the tranny is warmer, it holds gears longer when its cold.

That does not sound good.....it sounds like way too long of a delay. it started this right after the service? you sure her used M5 trans fluid?

It was doing this before the tranny service.

I do not think there was a reflash for a slow shifting transmission. It sounds to me like it will need to be replaced.

if he used the wrong type of fluid, it could cause transmission damage

the type used must be type M-V (not to be confused with Mercon V)
do NOT use any dexron type fluid nor the old style Dexron III/Mercon type fluid... it does not have enough cold viscosity for the transmission!

06 + 50K = Warranty? Take it to the dealer and see what they think
