So , it's 4:47am and four more hours of my night shift to go ....

I've seen loads of pics of 3's with blue highbeams... now this must be illegal! They must run HID'S and just use the highs for show?

I jacked some pics from the mazdaforum (sorry if I used a members ride on here/and the other site)

and ...

I'm a HUGE fan of this , I've tried searching... and no luck on finding anything on the forum my next stop is :gg. I just wanted to know what others think, I know it's kinda a waste of money (like doing HIDS for reverse) but... I think it looks nice. Whats your opinion?

He is using Höen Xenonmatch foglights and highbeams, and the member (Must give him credit because his ride is amazing cali_axela) What do you think??

The bulbs are just coated blue. They don't actually give off a blue light. If you look at a lot of the so called HID match bulbs on the market, they all have the blue tint which allows the bulb to give off a more whiter beam and not the usual off white/yellow.

I know , but do you think it's tooo ricey? Considering picking up some... I've got HID'S and never use the highbeams... justwondering for visual look....if others think they look good

If you like the look, go for it. Some may not like it but its your car.

Some leave them as is, some prefer yellow, and some blue. Greg, you've never looked at my car did you cause mine have a hint of blue. Thou not as blue as those in the pictures you posted.

I was thinking of doing the same too to match my front turn signal bulbs but since I never use my highs, I could prb use the monet towards some other mod.

i think they look good. but if its an HID kit i wouldnt get it since u dont use your high beams. and 150+(for a good set) for looks is a bit too much IMO

It's not a kit or nothing. Mine are just silverstars from CT. Any halogen bulb, coated in blue, will reflect the colour back off the reflective bowl giving off the "blue look". Ditto for mleblonde and yellow.

I have them in my car. I just changed my high beam bulbs (MTEC) b/c I was getting it for cheap, and they were coated blue. I didnt even know it would show up looking like that. I also didnt even notice it at first, my frd had to point it out to me lolll. I was like oh, okay, as I didnt really care. Then frds and random ppl in parking lots kept mentioning it looks good or cool.

I don't really like the blue. But then, I'm not a fan of cutting down on usable light just for looks. Which is part of the reason I am putting HIRs in my highbeams. Whiter light (~3600K) and a lot more of it without impacting the reflector geometry.

(BTW: I am also going to install HID reverse lights... 20% tint on the rear window, and my driveway turns into a blackhole at night, so I end up having to ride the brakes just for extra light).

for sure, my reverse are like that too with 20% tint I cant see that much at night ...

So if I am going to do the cheap mod do I do it up JDM style with yellow highs or go blue ? My turns are blue (I know ricey) but look purple. ... maybe go chrome signals and yellow highs ?

Yellow hights will give you better visibility than blue... and probably will be less likely to attract unwanted attention..... and chrome for the signals is always a good look....

i have done this to my car, with bulbs from Ct. i did it b.c when the high beams are on they look a little better then the HID light(8000K) and the yellow looking stock high beams. i personally like the look. id say if u have an extra 30 $ you can spear do it.

Do it JDM tight yo! (sorry had to, yellow bulbs aren't JDM)

Mine aren't blue bulbs, mine are just regular white high output silverstars (they mix yellow halogen with blue coating to get white'ish). I find that yellow high beams would distract me from the white colour which I'm expecting from my HID's.

Mine are blue also. Having HID make my high beams basically useless, but I put them in since I love the look of them. I still have to change out my signals and fogs though.

Ya Mat, I agree. Wish the chrome dipped ones emitted more yellow then orange.

03-03-2009, 11:26 AM
yah the chrome dipped ones are more orange than amber. have them for rear signals just to remove that amber reflection for the signals. for the fronts I got silverstars (because the chrome dipped are more orange) and they have a shiny bluish tint to it, but emits amber, and are very bright! :)

the grill on RJ3? Its an "open mouth" design. U can find them on ebay, SSG makes them, and Rick (Garage16) can get for u as well. Not sure of where else, maybe other members can provide more info if possible.

I hafta order mines soon :)
