View Full Version : Check engine light and battery light on???

i was driving today on donmills today, i wasn't going very fast and then all of a sudden my check engine light comes on and battery light comes on, i'm wondering on wut coould it be, but i reported it to MOT, that it had noises coming from the tensioner,and it idles loud on cold start ups, also driving it makes a like spring broke noise when accerating...should i be worries any help ? thanks

I believe Phil is correct. Sounds like the early symptoms I had when my alternator went.

Another possibility, belt tensionor broke or the serpentine belt broke/came off the pulleys.

well the car still starts no problem and i only have a 1200 amp and dual JL 's 12" and i don't push the 12" always so hard....but they say the battery is enough power the subs no problem...hmmm

ya but it probably also means that your alternator is not charging the battery properly..better get it checked out at the dealer

I see that you got a fujita cai, it could be the MAF cables thats cut. It happened to me once, got a cel and battery light kept going on and off. Check the cables on the maf sensors...

I have a smaller system than you. My alternator still died. My battery ran for a few days, maybe a week, then had to get the car towed, needed a new alternator, and a new battery.

well i had the F5 CAI for about 2-3 months no problems no light came on and my car is like almost 7 months old,and already having problems,hmmm but i'm getting it checked out though at MOT, on monday so maybe they can scan the ecu to c wut feedback it gets lolz hmm hope its not that bad...

Not necessarily, it could be as simple as the belt slipping as a result of the tensioner or a loose ground/connection etc;....there's many causes actually! Anyways since he has received a CEL, then a code should be present.Simply, it needs to be scanned!....Also if it was the alternator he would be getting other signs such as, dimming lights etc;

Absolutely your Alternator. I would get i fixed stat before you end up on the side of the road with your battery dead.
