View Full Version : Recommendations on better speakers (more bass)?

Hey guys,

I've been driving a rental corolla for nearly 2 weeks now, and if there is one thing I like - the bass is very good on the stock speakers. (4 speaker set up)

It almost reminds me of having a subwoofer, like in my previous car. With the Mazda3, the bass on the stock speakers is almost non-existent...

What would you guys suggest, for replacing the stock speakers with in the 3 (that would fit without making any modifications) that would deliver a richer, crisper, "bassier" sound?

One thing I've noticed too, when I'm using the Audiolink iPod adapter, I can no longer get into the screen to change the Bass / Treble - I guess the only way around that is to go with a 3rd party deck...?

Are there any brands or packages that you recommend?

Audio Heaven has some JBL's, that are very reasonably priced, and deliver great sound.

6.5 should do it. Our stock speakers suck donkey balls. When you see and hold it, your reaction would be WTF lolll

Yeah, thats one of the downsides of the Mazda3 I'd say.. the speakers are pretty lousy.

Hell, as I said in the first post, the rental corolla has very good bass from the stock speakers - very impressed by it.

And the fact that there is no "good looking" way to replace the stock deck makes it more painful to do an overhaul of the speakers, I'd imagine. I'd love to put in a deck with sub outputs, etc - but I don't want it to ruin the nice clean look of the stock set up.

If u want to keep the stock deck, you can put a custom install for an aftermarket deck where the ashtray is, or above the air vents if you'd like

Leave the stock deck in place, add the Audio Control LC6i (3 high voltage preouts with a sub level control). Now you can add amps and replace speakers all while maintaining the stock appearance of the car.

Yea, thats prolly a better way to go. I personally find it odd to have an aftermarket deck plus the factory one in place the same time :chuckle

see how much money you want to spend in all. it might not be a bad idea to add an amp and a sub, maybe a 10"-12", to give it a thump.

It'd probably be a hell of a lot cheaper that way, I'm thinking

Hey,

Quick question what are the stock speakers size in the 3?

the front and backs?

Cuz I got some infinity speakers hanging around... I took them off my civic stupid lease.

If they are the same size, I'm just going to put them in my 3 :)

front and backs are 5x7's but most ppl including me put some 6.5's in the front when going aftermarket.
