Trunk lid/hood open light [Archive]

I am shocked the M3 doesn't have a warning light in the instrument cluster to warn you that the trunk or hood is open... I searched for a thread on here for it, but couldn't find anything. Either I am using the wrong wording to search or there really isn't a thread about it.

I bought my car used... Maybe the light is burned out in the instrument cluster? I'll check my owners manual tonight.

dont think it has a light.. lol atleast i didnt notice one on my 2008.5

Maybe its the door open light that comes on for those? i never bothered to check..

I just hate that it doesnt have headlights that shut off if you forget to turn em off lol

door open light turns on when trunk is open, not sure about the hood thou

Does yours not have the automatic lights mode?

Leave them in automatic to come on when it gets darker on their own. You don;t have to worry about shutting them off then.

I have a 2008.5 Sport GT Hatch. It has them.

Keep your lights on Auto!

I don't know if any light comes on?! I am really weary and picky of unnecessary lights being in the cluster. I noticed this yesterday when I got home from costco and my trunk lid wasn't fully shut... Hmmm? Strange.

having the lights in Auto is not good for HID's, that's what i've read here :)

and omalak, there's a beeping sound if you the leave the car with lights on.. right? :whoa

yeah sometimes even on my 2008.5 the HIDS get funky.. so i keep it on manual

there is a beeping sound yes that never shuts up.. but still... an auto off mode would be nice

i'm detracting frmo the topic though.. sorry

so the door open light comes on when the trunk is open? nice.. i didnt realize that.

I have to agree with you on that point. I don't use my auto mode because I am afraid i could burn out the ballasts quickly.

I have 6000K HID Headlights and Fogs. That would piss me off!

I still didn't notice nay lights on... when my trunk is open. ***.
