View Full Version : 205/40/18 Tires on MZ3?
Hey guys, maybe a noob question...
But i am looking to buy these rims used from this dude, hes selling me 205/40/18, which i thought was a very weird tire size... i was thinking either 215/40/18 or 225/40/18 would fit the Mazda 3 a lot better
Will this fit on our car? I have the 2010 M3 hatch back... it seems like these tires are really hard to find too since no one really makes this size... its kind of odd...
The offset is 18, 7.5, 45mm
Let me know guys, thanks!
They will fit it is just that the tires are being stretched on to the rim. 215 and 225 are optimal for a 7.5" wide rim. 205 is good for 6.5 - 7". If you know the tire brand you can look up the specs and they are usually set for a range of 3 measurements, meaning like 6" - 7.5" The tires would be best suited to the measurement in between but will still work on the other sizes as well.
205mm will look shorter because they are being stretched a little on to the rim. Another thing to take in to account is that the tire will more then likely not protect the lip of the rim because stretching will pull them away from the lip a little. Your best bet is to ask to see them in person. Each tire will fit differently and you can make the call on the spot.
Another option is to get them and try to sell off the rubber on Kijiji while buying some fresh stuff off someone else.
wow cool that was quick, thanks man!
Will this affect ride quality? they are Falkens Azenis ! Could be an old tire... i cant seem to find them on the internet...
Well, i mean cant find the size on 1010tires.com

I guess if the deal is that good, then it's hard to pass up. They're really too short for the car though, and this will be very apparent in the fender gaps. It doesn't seem like much, but it is. It will also affect your speedometer and odometer readings.
The ride will definitely be harsh. There's just very little sidewall there to provide any cushioning.
I wouldn't recommend them but again... if the deal is too good to pass up, then at least you'll have the rims once you're done with the tires.

I would have to agree with Wild Weasel, they are too small. You will see!
thanks for the input again, so you mean even if the car is lowered, it will still look too small? and that the ride quality will suffer a noticable difference?
I gave that wheel size calculator a shot, it says something that its almost the same size as my stock 16's wheels... should i be worrying about this?
