I went down to my storage room to take pics of the OEM wheels that i am trying to sell, in the process i managed to drop my Nikon coolpix s510 camera which i had just bought last summer.. and it landed right on its lens!
The damn camera doesnt focus now and the lens mechanism wont move..
Anyways anybody have an idea if Nikon will cover me under warranty?
You cant tell it was dropped.. I bought it from Aden Camera from downtoen toronto :(

Doesn't Nikon have a two year warrantee program. Call Nikon and tell them the lens won't close.

Yeah, i'm going to call Nikon on Tuesday, and same with Aden camera.
My warranty card only states a 1 year term.. regardless 1 or 2.. i'm still within the period.. I just hope they dont deny me service
It fell about 4 feet though. and with my luck had to land right on the lens..
Hopefully i dont get a hassle by Nikon or Aden
funny my 5mp Kodak camera is rock solid, that thing has seen better days yet it continues to run!

I work part-time for Nikon and will be sure to bring this issue up with local stores so they deny you coverage. This isn't fair to our company.
Just kidding! :chuckle

yep.. i've got a pretty good feeling they will deny service.. which i dont blame em for. if thats the case i'll see what the cost to repair is.. from what i see on the net it seels like 60-120 is the range..
Last resort i'll pop it open myself and hope the lens just popped off its rails.

No retailer will cover physical damage. Going back to them will be useless.
Going to Nikon may prove to be a bit more helpful, depends on if the rep you are dealing with. If they want to provide good cust. service they will help you out I suppose.
Maybe it is time to upgrade to a DSLR.

If you are saying that there no visible damage, just don't tell them that's it's been droped.
Just say: " It doesnot work, fix it plz"
