Hi Guys, am getting rims 17x7 aftrer market not sure what the offset is (I guess +45 ) and tires .
should I got with 225/45/17 or 205/50/17 tire?
the speedometer will be almost the same,
if I go with 225/45/17
is it heavy on the car , my engine is 2.0L only?
would the tire gap (tire and fender) will be bigger than the stock 225/45/17?am not lowering my car.
does it rub? is it safe? other issues?
is Nankang NS2 OK? or I go with falken?

Thank in advance :)

Offset is very important. If its something like a +40/42mm I would stay 205/50 or 215/45 :)

You should be able to squeeze by. Run a 215/45/17 and be safe is my suggestion.

get 215 - 40

215 45 is too fat

Notorious - That size tire is totally wrong for the Mazda3. The 215/40 is more than 5% off of the stock size, and shouldnt be an option.

stay away from nankang. they are made in China and wear out very fast, which is why they are so cheap.

get it done right the first time and go with the falkens. everyone is satisfied with those.

Same...215/45/17's work really nicely and are <2% off stock size.

What you mean stock size? You mean the ratio? I know 215 - 45 keeps the same ratio as the stock tire -- but you guys completely overlooked that the stock rim might be wider or thinner than the after market rim... Like you know...17 x 7.5 or 17 x 8 etc

Anyways,

215-40-17 looks good on after market rims --

I think the closest to a 16" stock going 17x7 is 225/45/17 which is 0.3% faster compare to 215/45/17 which is 1% slower (save some mileage on your warranty).:bana

See the links below for comparison.

From my experience:

if your going 17s, 215/45/17 is the tire size I run and it is very comfortable, and it looks good!

ifi your going 18s, 225/40/18 is similar in size and comfort as to the 17s I mentioned above.

When i get my new tires this winter i plan on running 225/45/17..would i rub anywhere?

My rims a 17x7.5 off set is 45

Hum, would be close. If you're dropped, it should work, especially with at least -1.5* of camber in the rear. Front should be no issue.

If you're not dropped, you're good.
