Hey everyone,

Sorry if this may come across as a noob question, but what are your opinions.

Just planning ahead, but I was thinking of taking stock Mazda3 rims and replacing the all seasons for winter tires (as opposed to getting winter tires with it's own set of rims) to save me from buying new rims specifically dedicated for the winter tires.

Any disadvantages of doing this?

Hmm, apparently you can't edit your post.... I should have proof read it :P

2nd sentence should read "Sorry if this may come across as a noob question, but I wanted to get your opinion on this:"

You would have to pay to get the summers and winters swapped everytime. You do save money but everytime they they remove tires to swap there is a chance of damaging the rim. My personal opinion would be to just get some steelies for the winter tires

You wouldn't save any money cause getting your tires switched over twice a year would cost you around $30 each time ..so that $60 a year.

Buying new steeles rims would cost around $200 for oem fit rims from places like simply tire, exclusive tire..etc.

Do the math..In the long run it will cost you more money...my $.02

This is how I see it....

Since you are planning on getting winter tires (smart move :)), it really comes down to if you're planning on getting summer rims as well. Reason being:

Option 1: run summer or all season tires on after market rims and run winter tires on your OEM rims.

Option 2: run your OEM setup and winter tires on steelies

I'll probably end up just buying a set of steelies.

Thanks for the help!
