Hey Guys,
So I bought my Mazda 3 GT from Erin Mills Mazda in May 2007.
Ever since then I've been taking my car there for oil changes and service. Figured that I'll take it to the dealer and they'll keep it in good shape, I mean isn't that why I'm paying double 25-40% more than going to like active green & ross?
So, I guess my whole experience has been pretty poor-satisfactory.
One time I went in for an oil change and they did a whole service on it and gave me a bill for like $275. I asked them how an oil change comes to that much money. They told me they though I wanted the 20k service cause that's how much mileage I came in with. I wanted to just walk out, but they did do the work and so I paid.
Other things I find is that there prices don't stay consistent. I sometimes pay $45 for an oil change and sometimes $75. Depending who I'm speaking with they will give me anywhere between 0-15% discount for being torontomazda3.ca member.
The latest was in Jan when I went for an oil change (about 48K at that point). Came back and the bill was like $70 with no discount. I was looking at it and I'm like why is the oil change and tire rotation separate? I thought both got done together, like it was just part of the service. I told them I wish you guys would have asked me cause I would not have gotten the rotation seeing as I just put my winters on a month or so ago. The rep could tell I wasn't to happy. I even made a comment about why should I continue coming here and spending this much money when I can go elsewhere and they'll do the same work for much less money. Her reply was something to the affect "well we know your car better but its really up to you"
So, I know part of it is me being very laid back and trusting the dealership way to much. I want to be able to just give them my keys and have them do a good job and not take advantage of me. They should show pricing up front and tell me what they are going to do.
But the biggest thing is, I go to the dealership, because I expect them to be looking proactively at everything with my car. I don't believe they do anything of the such. And if all they do is an oil change then I rather go elsewhere and spend significantly less money. I say this because I've noticed a grinding/squealing noise when I apply brakes. This sounds a lot like my brake pads are gone and i'm touching the rotors. Although I'm hoping it's nothing serious. Don't my pads get checked when I go in for service? Also, the guy who put my winters on told me my stock tires are done and need to replaced? Why did the dealership not tell me this when they saw them last?
I do know this, I probably will not give any more money to Erin Mills Mazda.
Help me out guys... where can I take my car and feel that my business is appreciated. A place where they will take a look and make sure everything is running smoothly. Tell me about problems BEFORE they happen.
I am willing to pay for service. What I don't like is when I pay and I don't get service.
