Made an appointment at prima mazda for some engine ticking im hearing.. Upon arrival at Prima Mazda I was escorted to my vehicle to further inspect the problem visually.. As I am about to get on the passenger side im asked if Ive got a cold air intake installed. I told the mechanic I do and immediatley refused to work on my vehicle. I understand some dealerships are more mod friendly then others, but later the mechanic and all service advisors stood there basically with a smile on there face about my cold air intake. I had told him i never had a problem with my car and CAI installed but I guess he didn't care.. Called Dave Wood mazda for an appointment and specifically asked if I Could have a repair done with CAI and he said it wouldn't be a problem unless its MAF related.. which it is not because I made sure my wires are long enough..

Long story short, If you got CAI stay away from Prima. If not, good service then.. They probably just didn't want to work on the car and laughed when i said I would write about my experience today.

Just a heads up I guess.

That's where I bought my car Dante, Ive only gone there for an oil change, my car is stock, they fixed my gas cap problem quickly, I cant say much about them, but I saw one lady fuming about her repairs while I was there though.

I still dont know why they used 5W-30 instead of 5W-20 when I did my oil change, when I called they said that is what they are using for all their oil changes right now.

hahaha just an intake i dont believe this story at all

there must be something else behind it cuz they never refused my car and i think i got a little more than an intake

There is nothing else to this story, Why does everyone else tell me this when i write something up. It was strictly intake and that was the only reason they didn't want to work on it, he never even got past the hood of my car before denying work. He said because its a drive ability issue they wont bother if I have an intake.

So what happened at the other dealer then, did they find a problem, was it even a related issue, just because Whitespeed had a good experience doesnt mean everyone will, such as in the case of Dante.

I got my car at Prima as well, as matter of fact is my second car from there. My previous one was a protege5 with a turbo mod. When ever I had a car problem I take it back to them, they never gave me problem back then, most of the work was still done under warranty. My last repair for that car was to replace the transmission also done under warranty. I guess I was just lucky or they just my car alot. Even the service manager approve my repair under warranty even when is modify. But this service manager is different guy now. So i guess new service manager means new rules. But I think Prima still have good services.

I dont think it has to do with anyone but that mechanic who just didnt want to work that day. I never had an issue with prima either.. this is the first dealer to ever refuse to work on my car for a CAI or any kind of mod. I know for a fact Dave Wood wont do me wrong

LoL, i mentioned i had a CAI to Neville and Adam, they both smurked at me...
I was only having a 72K maintenance, which wasn't any relation to any engine repairs...They didn't refuse to service my vehicle...

The only thing that they did mention to me was - "They won't repair the CAI or any related parts, as it wasn't "Mazda" (Of course)

The also mentioned - If i had a MazdaSpeed CAI, they wouldn't have any problems with it.

WTF - Would this not void the warranty?

I was told even Mazda's CAI was rejected. and yes using diffrent viscosity oil then recommended DOES void warranty

Prima couldn't mount my wheels properly...so nothing surprises me about that place! I have never stepped foot back in there since.

first, some mechanics have a misconception about modified cars. we do see a ot of them. some really good work, and some hack jobs. some mechanics feel that if they repair something and you come back with an unrelated issue due to the modification that they will have to fix it to apease management who want to keep customers happy. some customer will complain that they were just here and got such and such fixed so it's something we did. I have had to deal with a few unreasonable customer so I can relate to the fear of having to do it again :). I don't mind dealing with modded cars. I have modded cars, mine included. your warranty will not be voided if your car is moddified. the warranty will not cover damage or failure proven to be caused by a modification. I do know vic doesn't like modded cars, so note to people taking modded cars to maple mazda be ready for rejection.

the reason prima uses 5w30 oil is because it was suggested by me. the 2.3l turbo engines recommend 5w30 oil. because we were getting a lot of turbo failure and engine failure I suggested the 5w30 to better serve the higher heat demands of those engine. 5w30 souldn't have any adverse affects of the N/A 2.0l or 2.3l. I put it in my 2008 GT.

I can't speak about why the couldn't fit the wheels properly. doesn't make sense to me. wheels are about the simplest thing to do. being a firestone mechanic before mazda and canadian tire before that, I've seen more than my fair share of tires.

Sorry to hear about your problem...doesn't make sense why dealers differ so much?
