Hey guys,
im hoping you guys can help me with this.

So about 20mins ago. i was driving like usual, i was using the tiptronic like i do sometimes as well, here is the weird part:

So im using like i'd been the entire drive (about 15mins at this point) then i look at the gauge cluster and i notice its in Manual mode. BUT its not showing which gear im in, nor is it responding to my changing gears.

effectively, when i go into manual mode it:
1. doesnt show which gear im in
2. doesnt respond to my shifts
3. shifts on its own as if in D (automatic mode)

i stopped on the side of the road to restart the engine, after doing so it showed up again, however after i shift from first to second the numbers go away again, not showing which gear im in, and it operates as if in automatic mode again. i did that twice with the same result.

what happend!? anyone else experience this?

i tried to do a quick search when i got home, but i wasnt able to find anything of significance in regards to this particular problem. i also have an exam at 9am tomorrow....so i dont have time to search all night (even though i really really want to) HELP ME!

If it doesn't know what gear it is in, sounds like an electrical or tranny 'puter problem. What year is your car again.

Looks like his is a 2006. I would be taking it straight to the dealers...

Sounds like magnet fell off, then you could just place it back to its spot. Worst case scenerio is some electrical failure, in which you would probably need a new switch assembly.
If its a magnet, it should be really cheap.

No one here can answer that question for you for sure.
Call your dealer and ask them!

The only way to find out is call your dealer and ask them if it covered under warranty.

sounds like an electrical issue, id book an appt asap and see if it'll be covered, not sure if it will though since only big components have the 5 year, but im not a tech or anything so it very well may be included in that category.

sooo...it seems that the problem has fixed itself?
today upon getting into the car and driving, it seems to be fine again.

odd. im going to hope for the best. and if it happens again i'll call the dealer.

thanks all.
