View Full Version : Rust on my 07s fender
:flaming
This is ridiculous. :(
My car is only 2 years old and has rust forming on the left rear fender and I keep the car in the garage at night. Not impressed.

I feel your pain but if your garage is heated, it's actually worse to keep your car inside in the winter. The heat melts the snow, slush and salt that accumulates all over your car, which in turn accelerates the corrosion process. Best bet in the winter is to wash your car at least 1 a week in the touchless car wash and keep your parked car outside.
What's good about heated interior parking is if you can hose off the car every time you park, now that would be ideal but the reality is no one has time to wash their car in the winter every time they come home.
Anyway enough about what has already happened...as for what you CAN do, well you know that Mazda is covering corrosion problems on their cars. Go to a dealer and show them the problem! Hopefully they will cover it for you.
Sorry to hear about this...bonne chance.

Dont think we will be keeping the car much longer, but regardless, this should not have happened.

Pics?
The amount is very small and I doubt I can get a good enough picture with my Digital camera. Wish my camera was as good as my eyes.

Its just the beginning, it will only get worse, wait till this time next year and I am sure it will be worse., thats if you still have the car...
The more problems I have been having lately is making me not so sure I will miss the car :(
Had another look today and saw that the rust is worse than I thought. I am sending a not very nice letter off to Mazda of Canada as if it will help much.

go to the dealer. they will fix it.
I have a 2007 and no rust problems yet, but I guess it's only a matter of time.
I just came back from the mazda dealer (inspection) and as I was leaving, another guy was showing the rust on the fenders to the service manager. all mazda 3's have this problem unfortunately

American/Canadian Metal > Japan Metal or so i'm told. Japan cars are still better IMO, and always have been.

What dealer did you go to?

I'm in Montreal, not Toronto. It was Mazda Gabriel.
there are lots of threads about this rust issue but the point is, mazda is fixing them under warranty. if the dealer is giving you trouble, escalate it. there's enough precedent about this problem.
