Wondering if anyone else has noticed this with the seats in their cars:
Driver's seat left bolster

For comparison Driver side right bolster
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k22/cjlee9/Miscellanous/IMG_0731.jpg
The cover in the seats are fine. I've had seat covers on my car since day one. If it is the way I get in and out of my car, the foam should not stay wrinked.
IIRC, there was something posted about this on the mazda3forum, but couldn't find it.
I do have passengers in my car so why its only one side is a mystery. Would this be considered warranty?

I get the same thing and am not happy about it. I think the seat is slightly angled so more pressure is on the area.

Fixed it for you! :)

I have leather seats and I can confirm the same result. The left side seems creased while the right side is fine with no fold marks. I just assumed I made more right turns than left. I think it has to do with the fact that when entering and leaving the car you put more wear on the edge. My wife's TSX has the same issue.
Or
They're not the greatest seats.....
Or
You have a huge ass Chris.

My previous vehicle never had this issue. I know our cars are not BMW's or whatever but this is brutal.

I'm already starting to see the same thing on my seat and it's not even a year old LOL. The wrinkles appear to be there permanently and I'm sure they will only get worse with time.
Does anyone have one of those portable steam cleaners? Wonder if that would take the wrinkles out? doubt it but it might be worth a try...
In the end, I try not to let these things bother me...so many little things with this car, it would drive you nuts to get them all addresed.
In the end, as long as it starts, drives and stops when I want it to, I am happy.
As for the rest, che sera sera! :)

Does the dealership know about this problem? If not, did they give you a hassle?

I actually had both my seats replaced because it was wrinkled under warrenty. This was within the 3year/80k one tho. I got my driver replaced by MOT and my passenger replaced by Airport Mazda. The driver side is fine, the passenger is still wrinkled, but i know they changed it because i had a permanent spot there and now its gone.

This is basically a wear-and-tear issue as others have posted, although it looks like some are getting them replaced under warranty. With the leather you'll get cracking on the leather itself as it ages. There is probably some of that on the cloth material, but it is also due to the polyurethane foam underneath breaking down with age. Unfortunately it can't always stand up to the constant pressure and twisting forces as you get in and out.
Of all the seats I've reupholstered, most have foam which is disintegrating or breaking down in this area.

No hassle at all, dealer looked at it. ordered it and replaced when they came in..
Car was only 2 years old and 30,000KM at the time, using cheap low density foam, cost cutting...
I've had my car just over three months and I'm already experiencing this problem.
My previous vehicle, which was a Mazda but in leather, had no signs of wear what so ever.
sigh..

won't crack if you keep the leather conditioned :)

I had the same problem with my 2005 2 years ago, had about 30,000KM. The car was still under warranty and had it replaced, driver seat only. Passenger seat still ok..
Should not look this bad as per the picture for a car thats only a few years old.

Time to look into Speed3 seats:chuckle
Still for cars that are only really 5 years old, having seat material deform is not normal.. Mazda needs to work on that!

LMAOOOOOOOOOO
I was planning on making a coffee table out of them but sure... they'd look sick on a white car too
At least most of you, if not all of you, got a few years out of your seats.
Like I said yesterday, my seats are only three months old!

Its doing it on mine too, don't feel bad. I'm going to get the dealership to see what they can do for me, or just replace the seat cover itself. The right side is brand new, and I always have a passenger.
When I had my Protege5, never had that problem though because it had leather. (from factory, not dealer installed)..

I'm not trying to "stir the pot" here, but are you people rolling over the bolstering as you get in/out? Perhaps it's how you get in and out of the car.

no offense to anyone... the trim materials and sheet metal on the 3s are all crap compared to the protege... they're all thin... my protege's body panels are twice as thick as my 3's and the carpet is too.. seat fabric is way better also... sneeze on the 3 and you get dents!
since I have both cars, there is no bias in this opinion... it's all observations that the *real* mazda (the protege) is built better! any time ford gets their hands in something, they screw it all up!

That is what causes it, unfortunately no on is ever "that" careful getting in/out of the car.

I totally agree 100%. I feel that my Protege5 was built so much better, in and out. The dash, carpet and panels were all a lot better, same with the body.
No, I don't roll on the seat like a beached whale, I'm careful, but it just seems no matter what or how hard I try, it wouldn't matter anyways.

I'm guessin with very little in the way of tools you could take the foam from the passenger seat and exchange it with that of the driver's seat after awhile if this issue really bothers you and the dealer isn't offering assistance.
