Hi Guys,

I'd like to get HIDs.

Question is that I see many options starting from $100 for a kit (illuminationtechnik) to prolumens for $190 (supershyguy)

so what is the difference between these kits? are the prolumens worth the extra money?

what should I buy and from where?

also, then comes the install. is this something I can do myself (i know nothing about cars) where do you recommend getting this installed, what should I be paying?

thanks in advance

I have the illuminationteknik ones (3000K fogs) and they seem to work fine and Apexcone (6000K LB) which are also good and got them cheaper than Prolumens. As for Prolumen you are just paying the extra bucks for the brand. There is not much difference.

For installation, contact Dan (McGuyver - one of our sponsers). He is pretty good at installing and knows his stuff... He installed both the LB and the fogs for me...his prices are also reasonable....PM him for a quote.

We are kinda in the middle I guess...

A set of single beam kits would cost you around $135CDN all in, with shared shipping in the GB order.

Our HID kits are manufactured under strict quality standards. The factory is ISO-9001 certified. The ballast and the bulbs in these kits have passed the most stringent OEM test devised by Toyota (Denso) of Japan. Toyota uses these ballasts for the OEM market in the Southern Americas region and some of the southern Asia countries.

Advantages:
We offer a free 12 month limited warranty on all HID ballasts and bulbs for ANY defect resulting from improper construction (we don’t cover physical defects ie. if you break your bulbs, etc.)

Our kits are designed and engineered in Japan (not China). They are built and tested to strict automotive OEM quality requirements.

Our kits are 100% water proof construction.

We have a 100% digital integrated one-piece ballast, which simplifies wiring and eliminates confusion during installation.

Our ballasts are the most sophisticated and powerful (50 Watt) HID ballasts ever produced.

Our HID systems are more powerful and more advanced than most OEM factory installed HID systems on the road today.

Our HID systems have less than a 0.3% failure rate, compared to 5-10% failure rate of other HID Conversion kits currently out on the market, the reliability is comparable to that of OEM HIDs

Our HID systems are matched to provide a color temperature has a tolerance of +/- 100K. This variation is unnoticeable by human eyes.

One piece ballast means that all of the critical electronic components are housed inside our ballasts. Watch out for so-called slim ballasts that are under-powered and have critical electronics mounted outside of the ballast

All of our dual beam kits ( H4, H13, 9004 or 9007 bi-xenon) come standard with the bi-xenon bulbs. Many HID kits on the market today do not provide the dual HID for high beam with the kit or offer a clumsy combination HID/halogen dual high/low beam bulb which will not be HID when using the High Beam Functions.

All of our dual beam kits ( H4, H13, 9004 or 9007 bi-xenon) come standard relay harnesses to simplify installation and eliminate flickering and blackouts during switching between high and low beams.

Go with Illuminationtechnik.

If you are loca in the GTA, they meet you at around kennedy and 401.
they give you 18 months warranty on both bulb and kit..

I have prolumens, and i ran the GB for the Illuminationtechnik kits, if i were to buy again i would NOT buy prolumens. the brand name means nothing.. I see no difference in any of the kits.

in the end its the best price/best warranty.. just go with that :)

Quite honeslty go with any, both are great sponsors and will look after you.

Get what works out to be cheaper and in your hands faster. theres a few other sponsors who sell hids aswell (such as tuned2mod)

Slim HID kits are a bit easier to fit into confined spaces but either kit will work
