Ok so at first I thought I would add some fog lights to get some more light out, but after some research the factory fogs dont seem to do much. So I have started looking into HIDs. I have an '07 GS with auto headlights. Ive heard that you need to disable drl's or turn off the auto headlights. Are these true or what? I do like having the auto headlights and I'm not so sure about the legality of turning off the DRLs. So fill me in guys whats necessary when adding HIDs to my car.

since your car is an 07 your DRL are your highbeams..no need to disable those. simply get a HID kit and hook it up..i think its plug and play

HIDs were plug and play on my 08. My DRLs are in the high beams so no issues there at all.
Getting the bulb retainer clip back on was a bit tricky but only on the first one. Once I figured it out the other one took a few seconds. It is tight working in there with adult size hands though, and visibility is terrible but the job is doable. If the kit you buy doesn't include H7 spacers you can use 2 or 3 garden hose washers on each bulb instead. You will understand what this means when you remove the halogen bulb/spacer assembly and compare it to the HID bulb - it is pretty obvious.
I did use the relay harness included with the kit I bought but this doesn't add any complication - there are several plugs and wires but in the end the thing only connects one way and you'd pretty much have to start cutting and splicing to mess it up. I guess if you are colour blind and can't tell red from black you could cross the wires on the battery but they are marked with + and - so even there you'd have to put some effort into making a mistake.
