So I just recently had my Kw V2 coilovers installed by Jimmy/Street Performance. The challenge is the springs that come with the kit are pretty short, and my ride height is lower than I want. Jimmy had noted the fronts are at the max height setting. I'm now looking into spring spacers
I see that KW has their own:

Wondering if anyone has any experience with spring spacers? Thanks.

So do you want only the back adjusted, or the front as well?

How are you in speedbumps?

I think the back looks good as it is.

For my setup. The back lock collars were remove to add the max drop on the back. The front was still 2 settings before max.

I never tried dropping the front to its max.

I need the front adjusted. I am too low in the front. The back I can still raise. The goal is to get higher, not lower.

but it looks sooooo good like that!!!

I'd call Tripoint...they modified a set of the Mazdaspeed CO, with spring bearings and I think a custom camber plate...so a spacer should be a no-brainer for them.

that height is perfect ....

The height looks good now, but remember he has a lip on the front and I find it too low and I'm just on pro kits.

The other problem is when he want's to raise the car for the winter season he won't be able to go any higher.

I don't see any issues with spacers. In theory it should work and I mean KW designed them to work with their suspension kits. I'd fell comfortable if I were you.

I'd go with KW spacers. Just to be on the safe side and all.

if height is what you are looking for,

then I would just go with a new spring in the front for the coilover, all you need is the spring id measurement and then go with a longer length that is provided...

http://www.mosi.ca/ aka Mike from Mosi can help you find a longer length spring,

IMO safer then the spring spacer, plus with a new longer spring, get a better ride pending on spring rate you go with and safely achieve the height in which you are looking for....

I cant believe there are complaints that Prokit is too low for a lip, meh...thats nothing I would understand a complaint from people at Steven's height or even mine, look I was lower then the pro kit and scraped with the front bumper....

but to the OP, go with longer springs....I am sure Mosi can help you find the right spring....

I agree. new spring would be a better option as you'd also get the benefit of having more travel in the suspension. Why give up travel when you don't need to?

I had the same issue with my Sunfire and put taller springs on. Since it's got around 3" of adjustability, they still go lower than can be driven on city streets, and come back up to a reasonable height. Be sure to talk to someone about getting the appropriate spring rate.

Thanks. CTA Patrique was able to source the original KW spacers for me. I'm going to try .5" spacers in the front(rear has room to raise), as a start. If that doesn't solve the problem, the next step may yet be a custom spring solution.

hahahaha +1

I want to go lower , but the offset on my wheels is too crazy~!

Ami, how bad are you rubbing on the rears ? I see that your tires stripped some of the paint from the fender.

The rear doesn't rub when the wheels are straight, and I drive on flat ground. They begin to rub at 3/4 lock, also on downhills, and hard breaking.
I am getting my fenders rolled shortly, so we will see how much that helps.
I'm running a +45 offset wheel.
Also to note, if I did want to go lower, and had the wheels to make it work, I could drop another 1-1.5 inches.

What offset are you running?

My rear is rubbing and destroying my tires :(

I heard the the fenders on the 3 are hard to roll ... true ?

Wheels are +45(bored out from +42). I don't think the rears are hard to roll, but it's not something I am willing to do myself. I have a tentative appointment at 6pm tonight, to have Peter's guy roll my rear fenders, if you want to come by and watch.
Also note, the front fenders, I'm told can not be rolled.

there is nothing to be rolled on our front fenders, so yeah you can't roll it :chuckle

and Ami, how come it looks liek a chunk of paint came off on your fender in your pictures?

you rub in the front or the back? would a camber kit help?

Front rubs over hilly patches on the highway or when the wheel is cranked.

I know the rear rubs over small bumps when there is a load in the back , my f*ked up fenders are proof.

Meh, not looking to spend anymore money on the car .... so no camber kit for me

Because that is what happened. Though it happened before the coilovers. My rear fenders have bubbling and rust issues. Getting that fixed on Monday.

Wheels are +45(bored out from +42).

Huh? Did you mean you had them machined? Bored out means they enlarged the center bore (center hole) of the wheel to make it fit the hub. Machining is what is done to change the offset.

I don't know if half inch is going to be enough in terms of the spacer, if you're at the top of the setting now. You're going to want more range so that you can raise the car up for the winter months no?

My bad, yes machined. As for the spacers, they are actually 1.2" spacers. But then I will lower the coils further(just for the summer) to compensate.

shit i forgot to take a look at the finished product yesterday, I'm curious to see how our fenders are after getting rolled since I heard our fenders are harder to roll than most cars.

Finished product is much better. No more rubbing. There is paint cracking, but I expected that. That's why the car is going to the body shop on Monday for paint work.

Getting it done at Nextmod's bodyshop. PM Peter/Supershyguy for info. Peter got me a great rate to do both my rear fenders.
