Anyone ever driven over some thick glass lying on the street and had their tires live to drive a full season ?

This happened to me last night, apparently there was an accident and the clean up crews left shards of broken glass on the street, big chunks of it for everybody too play in.

I'm keeping a very close eye on my tire psi now. Honestly, there must be idiots running the operations around this city.

Do you have Tire & Rim Warranty?

If its very little pieces of shattered glass, I wouldn't worry about it but if they were bigger chunks then it might become an issue.

Depends on the size of those pieces of glass.

Oh and the debris and glass are supposed to be clean up by the tow truck driver that tows the vehicle involved in the accident. Which does not happen too often since most of them are crooks.

no warranty

I should have known better when I seen the flashing lights up ahead, but under the circumstances, I didn't think accident, I thought "road stop" and who is going to very well pull a U-e when driving towards that ?

You can inspect your tread if you're worried. Glass may be a little harder to spot but you're looking for large peices anyways. Little shards likely can't do anything.

Look for something wedged in the tread. To do this, if you're inspecting front left tire, turn wheel all the way left and back up slowly. Inspect the tread as the tire rolls. Same for right tire but turn wheel right.
For back tires, roll car forward and inspect tread from the back.

This obviously takes two people, one to drive and one to inspect.

Or take off wheels but that's alot more work.

porcelin, yes, and even weirder things, but never glass.

Just take one tire off at a time an inspect it. I've found glass in between the treads but never in the tire. Doesn't hurt to look though, you never know what you might find.

If you're that paranoid, take off your tire and spray it with soap mixed with water and see if there's any bubbles. If you're hardcore enough, throw the tire and rim in the tub and see if there's any bubbles.

Tire pressure is holding !!! 3 days now, wow I feel like I've been given a new lot in life.

Let this be a warning, be sure you know what's happening on a street before deciding to turn onto it !! :bang
AND always have a good set of replacement rims ready.
