I was driving today and a cop pulled up behind me and gave me a ticket for not having an up to date plate sticker. It was my bday last thursday and I forgot to get a new one. He said I can pay $110 or go to court where they may reduce it or throw it out completely. Anyone else ever get a ticket for this? What did you do and what was the outcome?
Shoulda just got the stick. If your bday was last Thursday that was still June. SO he must have pulled you over originally for another reason.

Get your sticker and go to court. I've done it before and they dropped the fine.

i think if u get your new one and go court and show them that new sticker, as well as tell them your bday just passed, they will drop it

Sounds good. So I'll go to the courthouse next week and get a court date. Thanks.

Doesn't the law require you to basically get a new sticker anytime during the month of your birthday? If your birthday was in June then you should be able to get this ticket dropped easily.

+1 ^^^^^
the cop doesn't know what day your bday is, your sticker says June 09
so you have till the end of the month to renew it?

Plates expire on your birthday. Check your renewal notice. It will tell you that they must be replaced by that date. Once the cop checked your plate he would be able to see the birthdate of the registered owner. It was past the date so you got pulled and handed a nice ticket.

Well he probably saw it on his driver's license... he was really eager though to pull you over though... wow
Yah it's really not worth fighting... IMO. I got pulled over while driving my bf's car cuz he had a bulb burnt out over his license plate... $110!!!!!!!! Ridiculous... how would we have ever noticed that?? hahha... but it's not a moving violation and no points would have been added so we just paid it and saved ourselves the hassle. But if you feel you could win then go for it! :)

Once a cop runs your plate the registered owner's name attached to the vehicle and all of his/her information will pull up on their cruisers laptop. This will instantly allow the officer to find out that your plate sticker is past due.
