So my co- worker got a ding on his VW Golf, and was quoted $300 to get it fixed (repair and paint). Like most people, he is a little tight for cash and couldn't afford to get it fixed right now. So per his request/ with his permission (depending on how you look at it), he let me take a crack at it......
(sorry for the large pics)

Hey thanks guys. It's not perfection by any means... but ilke I said, it was my first crack at a DIY dent removal.
What was needed:
- sand paper
- primer
- paint (OEM preferably)
- heat gun
- mallet
- beer bottle (really, anything that has a shape of a beer bottle)
That's it. I'm sure that if you look at the car up close, you may see imperfections... but when you're in a jam and can't afford the flow... and don't want to drive with an eyesore.... DIY is the way to go :)
(my co- worker didn't buy me a beer, but he did buy my baby daughter a gift to thank me for helping him out)

Nice work pogi! :)
This method works on bumpers(plastic) only? What about body(metal)?

Some have worked; some have not.
It's just a matter of if I can get behind the dent or not....
