Hey guys and gals.
so as u can read i have an issue with my A/C. as the summer started i tried it and nothing. i tried it after the car had been running for a while too and nothing also.
ive read a few things about the cabin air filter and sometimes it affects it but i have an 04 so unless it was put in after as i got it used. there should be none
also have read that the 04s and 05s had a weak A/C
now im just wondering if i have to recharge my A/C or is it something else.
also is there a way to clearly tell if it needs to be recharged.
also i know some asshat will tell me to search but really i do not feel like going through the thousands of threads that come up when i search A/C so if u dont want to help then dont bother posting
FYI i have an 04 sedan with 120 000kms now.

Hmmm, I've heard the AC on some 04 and 05's were weak as well, but mine seems pretty good... when I was at Elite on Friday, I asked Cliff what was involved with the 72k service. He said part of it was to "dump out" the AC and refill it? I'm no expert so I'm really no help here, but maybe this is what would be required to get it working again? Worth a shot anyway, unless someone else can diagnose! :)

hmmm thats kind of weird, i went to bank st mazda for the 72k service 3 months ago and it was just before spring so i would assume if they had to do it they did, ill check the receipt

sorry was the 96k service. but u think they would of still pointed out if it needed to be changed

Yeah they should... but if it's not on the 96k list then they probably wouldn't even bother to check... maybe find out if it was done on your 72k? If it wasn't then give them hell!!!! lol

The A/C operation is inspected during the 96,000 km service - but that is to generally ensure that the A/C is engaging - they will not evacuate and recharge your system in the regular scheduled maintenance service, unless you were charged for 2 lbs of freon. If so, then yes, you paid for an evacuate and recharge of the A/C system. This may be all you need, and will cost approxiamately $100-160 plus taxes.
Let me know if you would like any assistance in this matter, as it sure is getting hot out lately!
If it needs to be recharged their is stuff you can buy at part source that i have used in my grand am and it worked awsome and it only cost like $90 or less (i can't rember) so if it needs to be recharged then this can is you best bet and it will save you money

so tell me how they checked it if hot air comes out of it and they said it works. like seriously it is hot air coming out of it.

ill have to look into that but i have no idea on where to start as to how to change it

Gab bring it back to Bank street.... and bring it straight to John. That's ridiculous if they checked off that it was working fine, they'll do something about it I'm sure...

I agree, maybe let the dealer have a look at it. Assumptions aside, maybe just an error was made

they just might say it was working when we checked it and something happened since. You have 120,000KM and it was checked at 72,000 or was it 96,000KM. You may have lost all the gas because of a leak, or a blown fuse?

never thought of hte fuse, ill check it out in a bit, and as for leaking i would assume i would of seen some sort of sign of it mostly in my parking spot at home

Yeah they might say that... I know I've heard it before from another dealership. But John is a pretty real guy. For example, I was 100% positive the body shop they took my car to for fixing the rust had dented my bumper. I brought it to his attention and he sent it back right away to be fixed. He's pretty reasonable, he could have easily said it was my fault but I think he knew I wasn't giving him the runaround, and he wasn't about to either. I think he genuinely just wants, and likes, to help his customers out within reason.
And I'm pretty sure they're open Saturdays. :)

k so i pulled the fuse and its not that cause without the fuse the fan dont work at all so that means if it was blown then nothing would work at all.
time to go see the dealer haha
ill have to look into that but i have no idea on where to start as to how to change it
Nothing to change..it's a matter of charging it..pretty simple to do
*thanks phil for pointing out my spelling..lol*

There is a reason you have no gas in the system... adding more will probably just leak out again. You need to have the system checked for leaks, etc.

i never said there was none in it. i will check that later on, ill just press the valve real quick and if nothing comes out then its leaking of course and i know i have to get it fixed and not just refill it

you might have a slow leak, good idea to press the valve to dee if you still have gas in the lines...

The stuff i used was at part source ( i think the canadian tire is the same) but it had to small cans in one package..i can't rember the name of it

so i found out what was wrong with my a/c.
turns out me or meghan hit something with the car i guess this winter and it made a huge hole in the pan thats at the front under the bumper. and guess whats overtop the hole. the belt for the a/c compressor. the belt was gone. so now i put a new one on and recharged the a/c and all is good. i have a/c now:D
