New York state and many others have reciprocal agreements with Ontario and Quebec.

http://fightyourtickets.ca/reciprocal-agreements-between-the-province-of-ontario-and-other-provincesterritories-and-different-us-states/

New York state reports moving violations of Quebec and Ontario drivers directly to those provinces. So if the infraction involved points chances are they will be carried over. Don't ever let an American ticket lapse without paying or fighting it. If you do so the next time you are in the state you can be stopped again for "failure to pay." If you plead guilty and pay the fine the conviction is transferred over to Ontario.

The NY State Thruway is very heavily patrolled. Anything over 70 or so and you're toast.

Just because its out of state doesn't mean you can't fight it. One of the local ticket fighting companies should be able to represent you in court and you won't even have to show up in person.

yes, fight it. Thats what I did and they changed the ticket to some weird offense that carries over to nothing for MTO.

I did the same mistake, stupid 65 to 55 zones
