Definitely nothing new but wanted to try it for myself this weekend.
Shot with 1D3 and 5D2.

I recall someone posting up some HDR pics and I myself have tried doing them but they didn't turn out as good as the rest.

It's a water balloon popping. The video shows it.

You should be able to. It'll just be more difficult.
Most entry level can only shoot at around 1/4000 sec and 3-5 fps.
The 1D Mk 3 used can shoot 1/8000 sec and blazing 10 fps.
With the slower entry level you have a greater chance of missing the split second where the water stays still so you might have to retry several times until you get it (or get lucky).
