Perhaps this is a safety feature, but if I am in park with the car is running, I can't open the trunk using the key fob :bang :bang :bang
I know the release button is on the floor, but three times now, I have dropped off passengers who have stuff in the trunk. It is late at night and therefore dark, and I can't see the trunk release button on the floor. I try to use the fob and nothing! :complain
Can anyone confirm if this is a safety feature?
Maybe I have to get some glow in the dark tape to be able to see the release on the floor???
Thanks,

As I don't have this myself (hatch), I have a feeling it would work the same way as the door locks. When the car is running or at a certain point in the ignition sequence (on start instead of just on acc), it might "shut off" the reciever for the keyfob so as not to trigger anything by an accidental button push.
I've noticed once that it wouldn't lock/unlock the doors with the key in a certain position (forget which) but I would assume the same for the trunk release. Wouldn't want to hit the button by accident while actually driving the car and have it pop open. And it's much harder to flip the latch while driving as it requires a good amount of force/skill that probably isn't possible with a foot while driving.
Can't really state for certain but it seems like a good bet it's a safety feature! Not that I can see why it would mean anything for lock/unlock but for the panic button and trunk release it makes sense...

I'm not sure how the setup is for the new 2010s but was the car in park when you pressed the button?
Like mentioned above, it is probably just a safety feature.

Thought I should mention that I have an 09 GX Sedan - and not a 2010, and yes, I am pretty sure it's a safety feature - but if the car is running and IN PARK, I don't see why the FOB wouldn't release the trunk?
Jeff or someone - can you clarify?

If the car is running, unless you have a remote starter doesn't mean that your key is in...
remote features don't work if your key is in the ignition.

I believe an appropriate response to this would be "That's what SHE said..." :pop

Gee how did you ever come up with that idea? I never thought of that. You are absolutely brilliant.....NOT
(jk)
That's another issue I have - If only I could reach the light to turn it on manually.
OHHHHHH, Never mind!

Agree with the parking brake question. It makes sense that you can't open the trunk with the engine running... what if you were to open it when driving?
