Boy, what a surprise! My 2010 GT is only 3 mths old and this happens! There I am in the parking lot and the driver's door won't open. You should've seen it, a 6'3" body weighing 210 lbs (ok, there is a little Molson muscle) being forced to exit his vehicle thru the passenger door after climbing over the console from the driver's side (actually I had to do this a total of 3 times both ways and I think I pulled a muscle). A definite design flaw in not having some kind of manual override!

Even worse is that this happened yesterday and when I brought it to the dealership, they tell me the part won't be available until tomorrow. Talk about really screwing up my plans!

And welcome to TM3.

technut you should be happy you are getting the part this quickly usually on these new type of vehicles it could take up to 2 weeks for the parts to be ordered in from asia. Could be a door lock actuator or a door handle carrier or both. My bet would be a door lock actuator

BTW Dan, you were correct. It was the door lock actuator's... He had both sides replaced...

Yes, and it actually happened to her driver's door since my other post. She is a knob so I didn't ask her what parts she needed.

Just great. Did you notice (before getting stuck in your car) a sound that could be described as a dog yelping? usually when the locks auto-lock when you start driving? I'm hearing this from both sides of the car, and repeatedly unlocking and locking seem to make it go away, but only for awhile. My car is 7 months old and this just started happening as the temp got a bit colder, so for the past 3 weeks or so.

Rick,

Technut doesn't post on here much. I work with him, so I'll ask, but he is out of the office for the next few weeks. He didn't mention any noise prior to it happening though and I also drove his car and don't recall any noise either. Then again, it was summer at the time...
