My guess is an accident and FYI, $7000 a year even for a Lambo is super expensive. My old boss paid $700 a year for his brand new lambo. Ignorance is bliss!

I just got my renewal letter from Allstate.

"We are pleased to welcome you back, your payments starting August 15/09 will be $430.00 per month."

"Hope to hear from you soon!"

I was paying $250.00/month before my renewal.

Let's just say I got a lot of points.

I'm switching back to "The Personal", where I'll only be paying $150.00/month. After all daddy needs his car.:chuckle

I was paying $190/month as second name on my 3, but have since switched over to a little operation (Johnsons?) and am paying $130/month as a first name with an accident.

I'm with Johnsons and I sure as heck am not paying $130. Mine actually went up this year for no reason. I will be shopping around if they don't give me a good $ amount next renewal.

BTW, Johnsons isn't all that small... :)

AXA screwed me over real bad 2 years ago..quoted me $160 a month for my car and my truck..and when policy came in it was $260 a month..they decided my speeding ticket was not going to be considered minor but major (43 over limit) ..so i cancled..but cause i hit over i month by 5 days they billed me another $128 on top of the first and last month i paid:flaming..

I would consider 43 over the limit pretty major. If it was 10 or 15 over i'd understand but i dont think they screwed you over.

By law yes...in reality no

You still displayed your riskiness to AXA and that's why they bumped you up.

I agree with MistaChin. What really is the difference between going 49 and 50/51? I know by law its a major/minor offence, you're just like a single KM of pressure from a major offence.

Damn. I've had too much to drink tonight.

Actulay when i got the insurnacne they looked it up in axa rule book and it clearly said anything under 49 is minor...if the broker new that they were going to do that she would have put me with ING which they also consider it minor..and they never charged mea sent extra for that ticket..piont beening i got the insruance and the company decided that they were not going to count that ticket as minor and count it as major AFTER i signed all the papers!

Also it has nothing to do with law..this is rules that the insurance company makes...In their rule book it clearly says when i got the insurance that it's minor if it's under 49..

I would have saved so much money if they didn't decided to change the rule AFTER i signed.

Are there any discount programs you can look into through your insurance company? Perhaps deal with them, bringing something else under your umbrella and get a better rate.

Hi guys

I just notice this thread. Just wanted to let you guys know that I am an insurance broker. I understand that insurance can be frustrating, complicated and costly. If I could help with any kind of clarification, feel free to send me a PM.

It can be a lot more complicated than it seems.

To the guy who's paying tons per month, it could be unforeseen things such as charges/convictions/claims that you were unaware of. Poor service on the part of the insurance company results in them not asking all the proper questions and taking down the correct info which leads to a HORRIBLY incorrect quote.

To the guy who's paying dirt cheap per month, please ensure that you are properly covered and that all information on your policy is correct. Should there be any claim of accident, the insurance company could make your life very difficult if there are discrepancies on your policy. It could lead to denial of claim or possibly even cancellation.

I've only been lurking on this board and I don't post much but don't let that be a barrier in allowing me to help you out.

Regards,
Sam

Be very careful with that. It's actually fraud and could result in cancellation of policy for non-disclosure.

+1. You need to be living at the residence you have your insurance at. Your licence also needs to be there as well.

The previous posts are correct - the insured is not living at the address that is stated on the policy so it's like lying to the insurance company.

Hopefully, you won't have any problems if anything happens.

I can't stress it enough - cheaper insurance does not mean good insurance. I can almost promise that you will have problems one way or another.

Is the ownership of the vehicle registered with your parents address?

GTS

If everything checks out and all information is correct, then one shouldn't have any problems when it comes to claims and coverage.

What annoys me is the fact that people lie/cheat the insurance company trying to save themselves a couple hundred a year....then when they have to make a claim or get into an accident, they claim "they get screwed" over. I can almost promise that in most scenarios - the client tried to save themselves a few dollars only to pay more with headache and time wasted.

I'm in Winnipeg with public insurance.. 2009 Mazda3 GT sedan $150/month which includes an annual $130 new car insurance fee for two years.

$150 /month gets me $100 deductible for accidents, glass and vandalism and $2 million 3rd party liability.

We don't have cheaper rates for age however we do have merits and with merits come discounts. I currently have 2 merits which gets me 10% off, next year my 3rd merit kicks in so it will be 15%. You get up to 5 merits/25% off.

Most Manitobans are stupid and want to ditch Manitoba Public Insurance. If they only knew how much they would be screwed especially in the rates they would pay if they had an accident.

You're lucky to live in a province that has subsidized government insurance - pity us all here in Ontario :)
