View Full Version : Noob alert: HID and disable DRL

I've read through the HID faq and many of the threads about it and I think I know what I need just want to be 100% I've covered everything.

05 Hatch, what I needs is the HID kit and the relay to bypass (disable DRL) right? That should be it?
I've been emailing with Rachel from Nextmod and getting everything installed through them as electricity scares me.
I know I'll loss the DRL which is fine, even without the HIDs I would want to loss the DRLs.

The auto on functions is a bit of a ?. Would I just have to put the lights to manual at startup so they don't come on during ignition?

Sorry if this has been covered I’ve searched and read all I can find.

Pretty sure auto will remain the same... and you don't have to lose DRLs either! I think this thread uses a capacitator so you can use your HIDs as DRLs.

Thanks, that deals with keeping the DRLs though doesn't it, which I don't want.

Mazdabetty is correct !!

If you don't want to use my install, you can do the independant fog mod as your DRL's too.

Ok, I get that. But to just have HIDs as low beams and lose DRLs all together do I just need to get the HID kit and the relay?

yea you can, but that would make your car illegal as far as our vehicle laws go, canadian cars have to have some kind of daytime running light or they are considered illegal, and i guaruntee some dick head cop will enforce it on you.

Go with the mod with the antiflicker device (capacitor) given above...I have the same setup and it works great...

I've disabled DRLs on every car I've had, that's 15 years of driving without DRLs and not one ticket. Hence why I want to disable the DRLs on this car.

u just need to do the relay mod to delete DRLs. search it on the forum.
