I have to reprogram the remotes for my wife's 08.5 GT. It has the factory remote start installed. I have tried searching and nothing seems to work including this post.

All I get when I try to remote start the car is 4 horn beeps, but the lock and unlock works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

check pic 7 of the 29 and try to reprogram the transponder key thing maybe it has lost its memory? Did your battery go flat by chance?

Did they really install these from the factory? They certainly don't on the 2010. Isn't this a dealer installed accessory?

I was having issues with the security portion of the system so I brought it to the local dealer. They had to unplug the unit and re-install it, at which time I guess it forgot. We didn't have both remotes on us for the tech to re-program and I'm trying to save myself a trip back is all.
I tried page 7 as well, I just get 4 horn beeps, no start :(
Looks like I may need to be able to see section 14 step 5 maybe.

As far as i know they were an OEM mazda part installed by dealers as an accessory from 04-09 only automatics

Now that you have included further information this will help determine the problem because you stated they removed the system and reinstalled it. My bet would be check to see if the connections are all there it could very well be that some sensor is not plugged in and not allowing the car to start. Check the mannual if you have one in there it should state what the 4 beeps means

I have a install manual from a 2010 module.
It says:
1. Horn honks 4 times & vehicle does not remote start - No tachometer connection.
a. Ensure good connection and correct vehicle wire at instrument cluster (See Section 7).
Hope this helps,
Roger

Thanks Chester_lampwick for reminding me about that
the tach has to be relearned after the unit is reset. Try pressing the emergency override/programming button when the car is running and it should give you some sort of horn honking recognition.
Let us know how it goes
