View Full Version : Window not closing properly?
I noticed a bit of a problem with my car this weekend. The passenger side window doesn’t close properly all the time. Sounds weird but sometimes it won’t close all the way, as in it leaves a small maybe half cm gap at the top.
If I open it all the way and then close it again it usually goes all the way. It’s still weird and I want to get it fixed.
I’d just like to have an idea what the heck is going on??

The motor might be on its way out, or something has come loose and causing misalignment which is making it difficult for the motor to close the window properly. It is likely the motor dying though.
Here is a TSB. Although not the same symptom, it might be somewhat related. Good luck.

Thanks, that might be it. I forgot to mention that the window is loose, like it can be moved side to side when half way down.

Ah, well, in a way that is good. Might not be the motor after all then. Take it in to Jimmy or a dealer and have them look at it. Sounds more like the window is off the fasteners/railing and that is causing it to be loose and misaligned, which makes strains the motor and makes it difficult to close properly also.
Thanks, that's what I'll do. It's a nicer feeling going into a dealer at least having an idea what is wrong.

P.S. Who's Jimmy?

If you're out of warranty and I assume you are unless you have MAP coverage, then don't take it to the dealer. They will charge you way too much for looking at it and then fixing it.
Jimmy is 'Street Performance', which is a shop that many, many members and Mazda3 owners here visit regularly. Including myself. He takes wonderful care of your car, is a really nice guy, knows his shit and is very affordable also. If you live in the GTA, then I'd say go see Jimmy. Trust me, you really won't regret it.

That does seem like it could be it.
Car is hopefully being fixed right now.

Just called, that was exactly the problem. Screws had come out. It's all fixed now :)

Where'd you get it fixed Jeremy? Dealer or somewhere else? Glad to hear it was addressed. Sounded like it came off the mounting.
Edit: If the dealer, you should pressure them to fix it for free under the TSB. Even if you are out of warranty.
Not a dealer, shop close to home. Going to Street Performance in Markham is a bit far for me.
