Hi, my 05 mazda 3 sedan gt's trunk is leaking. i dont know where the water is coming from. Theres only water in the trunk after it rains. i already got someone to pour water over the trunk while i was inside with the seats down. i couldn't see where it was coming from. also the water is only on the driver's side and not the passengers. I've heard some theories about the water coming in from the tail light, but the car hasn't been in any accidents.

Check all the nuts holding the tailight to the rear panel. Make sure the trunk seal isn't deformed.

is the wet area near the back of the trunk, behind the seats or at the front near the tail lights?

I'm on the same boat. Mine is more like near the tail lights.

use a garden hose and spray in the tail light area to see if there is water coming in... I suggest you remove the trunk liner trim first before you do any water testing though so it will be easier to see
you might also want to make sure the car hasn't been rear ended before... if it has, then there maybe cracks in the body seam sealers that will allow water to go in... it may require tail light removal for a full proper inspection

The water is on the driver side near the tail light its right beside the jack's housing. I've tried the garden hose thing. i took out all the lining and everything even the spare. i could not find where it was coming from. i also dont think this car has been rear ended because the car fax is clean.

I don't know if this can be related or not but my last car was a cobalt and I had the same problem. Water was accumulating in my trunk and I couldn't figure out where it was getting through. Anyway what ended up happening was that they replaced the rear windshield before I bought it because it got broken into. The seal at the bottom of the windshield wasn't put in place properly so maybe have someone check that.

water leaks are hard to find, could be leaking at the right corner of the windshield and showing up at the left side.

My 2006 had a trunk leak problem too, but the spare tire well would end up looking like a pool after a few showers or car washes. I was told to check the drain holes near the sunroof to see if it fixes anything....but I just traded for a 2010...lol.
