WTF Mazda, I can see it appearing on the front roof area near the glass as a stone ship could cause what you have on the rear. Fix it and get rid of the car, its just the beginning I believe...I don't think its a stone chip it looks like bad paint prep or crappy metal. by the way, nice fingers...

Phil if you get rust on that spot of your car your window will fly off because of your sound system.
But damn, car cancer is hard to look at :(

Do you park your car in the garage in the winter?
This is the worst thing you can do to your car..your better off leaving itout side during winter..my $.02

Probably true about the winter storage, the summer evenings with air moister is the killer. But if the temp in the garage is the same as out doors so should be the same results during the winter. The garage cuts down on the wind chill factor. I can see if its under ground parking like condos the temp could be higher. Its all open to debate, I will take my chances in the garage..no rust, only on the wheel wells...

Only time parking in a garage would be a detriment is if it is heated, otherwise it's the best place to have your car anytime!! Reason being the salt covering the vehicle is basically dormant until 0 degrees celcius or above...Now in summer, especially overnight eg; Everynight this summer while I'm parked at work, the temp drops, by morning she's always covered in dew!...this can't be good! So point is, a roof over it's head is always a good thing, imho.
Kitty really feel for you, I know how much you love your 3 and pamper her.Hope you can get it fixed properly thru Mazda....I feel if it's repaired correctly it could last quite a while. :)

My roof is vinyled . It wouldn't be a shocker anymore to discover rust underneath :(
I'm not liking this.......

I think it doesn't matter where you park, at this yr old of a car it shouldn't had any rust like this bubbling from inside, blame the sheet metal and the paint process.

shows us that the rusting on our cars has to do with bad metal etc. Rusting from underneath which proves rust proofing will not stop the kind of rust our cars are showing. So don't blame the rust protection your car might have it won't stop the cancer at the surface..

my car also has rust bubbles on the roof aswell as the around the tail light on my trunk. I have already had my car painting for the rust issues around the bottom. But the dealership I deal with said the truck and roof were not part of the issue so the didnt do it.

What part of the roof? If its at the front its understandable from stone chips but on the back.. c'mon :loco
