Had an issue with my 2005. One day the car would suddenly not turn over - dashboard lights would go on but car would not start ... no noise no attempt to turn over. Then it would start. Next day, it would not start again and after 10 minutes, it started. It worked for 3 more days then suddenly ... no start again. Took it into a garage and ... naturally, it would start again. Found a US TSB for this exact problem and took it into a Mazda dealership and TOLD them to do the repair. Total cost approx $50 (my car is off warranty otherwise it would be a warranty repair).
One dealership even told me that this TSB did not apply to my car. So far so good ... no problems starting .. fingers crossed.

I had the exact same problem several times. Recently when this happened had to limp home as car wanted to stall (lucky I have standard where I could keep RPM's up). dealer indicated battery needed replacement. I have more serious electrical problems now as per my "Wild Speedo..." thread.
A friend at work (GS 50k) said this happened to him once a few years ago in the middle of nowhere and it scared the heck out of him:)
Its so funny how it always "naturally" works when you take it into the shop eh:)

Sorry Wilkstar, your problem is not at all what mine was. I am not talking about poor performance or stalling or battery problems. I am referring to the car srating normally one time and the next time, it just won't turn over. No attempt at starting, nothing ... then the next time it is fine and starts normally. Perfect or dead, no in between. It's a loose electrical problem.
Here is the TSB that I asked the garage to do:

Working fine so far ... fingers crossed ...

I had this problem with my old car. I replaced the CPS (crank position sensor) and it worked fine for about a year. Then it started taking about 5 min's to get running (cold engine). I figured it might have been a weak fuel pump, but decided against replacing and just bought a 3 instead. LOL ( MUCH HAPPIER NOW :)
Hope this doesn't come back to haunt you. I know the dreadful feelings that accompany car starting problems.

Bump this...
I'm having this issue with my 07 HB. It's only happened twice so far, once on sunday, and again today (thursday). I originally thought it was a dead battery since I was installing my HID fogs when it first happened and was using my headlights a lot... but I don't think it's that. As OP stated, all the electronic systems work fine, battery is still good... I just hear the fuses click and no turn over.
The .pdf link above appears to be dead... anyone know where I could find a link/more info?
Thanks :)
happened to me twice tonight, wouldn't turn over...ugh.

i had this problem and someone told me it was a dead alternator. ~300
called jimmy and he told me to sand the clip that goes to the starter. Took me about 2 hours and I have never had the problem since.
i can't find the TSB but basically you have to locate this plastic clip that goes from your battery to the alternator. get under the car, remove the front skid plate and it should be near the front driver's side.
Pull it out, insert a bit of sand paper and sand off all the corrosion inside the clip and on the receiver. When i took mine off it took a bit of elbow grease due to corrosion and then you could see it on the metal.
Like I said, never had the problem since and Jimmy sure as heck saved me alot of time and money.

Can you start it in Neutral? I had this problem and it had flaky starting issues in Park. Jimmy at street performance cleaned and fixed it, can't remember how much it cost, but it was under $50 i think. One thing i noticed immediately after getting it fixed is the shifting between PND was buttery smooth.

I have a 5 speed, so it's not that. I did some research and received some advice on here and figured out it was just a corroded starter ground wire. $15 at the dealership for the part, just have to install it myself when I get the time :)
I mentioned the symptoms to the guy at the parts counter at Forbes Waterloo Mazda and he knew right away. He said it's a fairly common issue. So common that they keep replacement ground wires in stock haha. So zzz3, I'd check that out if I were you.

I have a similar issue except my car will always turn over but sometimes instead of doing so smoothly it'll boggle up a bit during start up and everything will be normal from that point on.
Any suggestions guys? I was thinking maybe just cleaning out the fuel injector system might help, but then again, I know nothing :chuckle

My 2005 M3 is now gone but I had no more starting issues after I got that repair. The TSB for anyone interested is :
