Now go watch district 9 and see how smart direction / plot can make a great movie with a budget considerably less. GI Junk took $175MM to create vs the $30MM for D9.

I went to the Famous Players by Hwy7 and Yonge yesterday evening..... was thinking about District 9, but ended up seeing A Perfect Getaway instead (a good movie in it's own right).

I'll check District 9 out when I'm with the boys instead..... or is this a movie women would like as well?!?!?

good to see so many ppl here were able to appreciate this movie for what it was worth

my gf doesn't really dig sci-fi movies... especially something as raw and different as this, but she loved it in the end

woke up the next morning thinking about it and just how helpless we are...

cuz ultimately this movie boils down to... (at least for me) a huge morale dilemma.... for everyone...

now on the other hand... it was great story telling... great characters and damn good action.... can't go wrong
this is gonna be a good one to have on blu ray

District 9 was influenced by apartheid (racial segregation) that was 'the law' in South Africa during the director's childhood; mostly the forced eviction and relocation of 'non-whites' from District Six when it was declared a 'whites-only' area.

Yes, there were parts that really points out the human condition/flaws. Such as when it came down to helping out Christopher or running, the human would choose to save his own ass instead...

Yea I got nauseous from the shaky camera... well we were pretty close to the screen. So make sure you get good seats

I dunno. Went to watch it yesterday at the drive in. It was ok. I was kinda disapointed because I read this review first and was thinking it was gonna be really good. I think it was ok. I watched the ugly truth after and kinda liked that a bit more than this one

absolutely loved it. aliens, humans getting vapourized, action, swearing!!!, and a little bit heart-warming as well.

great movie, very different yet not at the same time. for me, it lived up to it's hype and i enjoyed the bits of comedic dialogue. p.s totally going to be a 2nd one. :D
