View Full Version : Any Rubbing issues with hotchkis sway bars?
Hey guys Peter from nextmod just called me. He informed me that eibach does not make sways for our car anymore.
So I was just wondering if any of you guys have the hotchkis sways on your rides? and any issues or problems so far?
Thanks!

No rubbing if installed properly. Maybe watch out in the back, make sure you clear the plate on the rear suspension. My endlinks got loose after about a week, so I redid them with LockTite Red, no problems now.
Also check the bushing sizes before you start the install, they changed diameter of one of the bars, so packaging pulled the wrong parts for so items.
Excellent product and support. Zoom, Zoom! :)
clearing the plate will help with the squeaking right? how do I check if its the correct bushing?

I was under the impression that the squeaking was from the Poly bushings not being properly lubed.
I would expect to hear a knock or thud as the bar makes contact against the car, but if its properly designed and installed, I don't think you'd have any problems.
I just installed the Tri-Point bar and this thing is a beast, not a tubular bar, but its properly designed, and the install was pretty straight forward. No knock or squeak so far. :)
niice :) maybe Peter could get me a deal on tri-point. hehe time to call him up

Squeaking could be bushings. Hotchkiss on my car does not squeak, on the plus side they also have grease fittings. So if you get a squeak, pump it with lub. :chuckle
I think if the plate was in interference you would hear a scrapping.
Correct bushings - Just assemble dry on your floor. Every bracket and bushing should be snug. My bushing I.D was too small and would not close and let the bracket on.
I believe they should all be 1 1/4 I.D. now. It is printed on the bushing. Kind of a no brainer on this one. Hotchkiss sent out correct one within a week. They also stated they corrected the packaging issue and should not be occuring now.
Edit - For sure lube before install.

Yup, the Tri-Point bar comes with Energy Suspension Bushings, both the bushing and the bracket that holds them in place have the nipple on em so you can lube em up anytime, I just preferred to lube em up prior to even putting them on the bar.
As for the Tri-Point bar, the company themselves are having a group buy on them, I think its still going on so call them up and ask, they're very friendly folks. :)

The bar weighed 7.8lbs without the bushings or brackets on it, but when you see it and hold it in your hands, you KNOW this is no ordinary swaybar. :)
edit: FYI, the Tri-Point is a hollow bar.
Thanks for the quick responses guys! I think I made my decision. :)
