Jet fighters at Pearson...

Hey guys,

I'm going to drop by the airport and film some take offs... Any one know which runway the fighters are more likely to use? What street should I park at? I want to get up close and personal without getting arresed ;)

I know the Blue Angels are all parked on Derry Rd, but I don't know if that's because "Fat Albert" is with them or if all jets will be in that area... Either way, doesn't mean they will take off from nearby...

Any suggestions? I'm thinking the viewing area next to the FedEx building, the one on airport rd by cibc/TD, and last resort the "short cut" behind the airport (small twisty roads, can't remember names tho)

Fed ex building is where I got my photoshoots done with my car... Good luck I would suggest heading early as others may have the same idea

try going down menkes road at the end of the dead end there is a big fence right next to the airport with a great view of the runway right where most planes take off...

FedEx is useless for plane watching now that they removed the hill. If they are using rwy 23, go to Wendy's on airport Road. For 05 go to Derry Road and park on Director Drive (?).

Look at the wind direction and find the closest match for the headwind direction. Those will most likely be active runways...

I wasted a bunch of time circling the airport lol. Airport Rd was too crowded, Dixie was okay, but no real area to stop... I found the best location was the FedEx building. The fence made taking pictures horrible, but the planes were a stone throw away (Can you still say that post 9/11?).. I got some videos, but nothing special. Tomorrow I'll head down to the lake and see what I can see...

Menkes Rd was good, but the grass was too tall to get any good pics. Although I circled all the way towards the FedEx building on Menkes Rd (And what's what made me decide to simply go to the Fedex building)... But maybe at the end of Mankes Rd (before it turns into that other street) would have been better... I didn't really give it a shot.

lol u guys dont even know. i work landscaping at the airport, were contracted by the GTAA and we get to go do there main buildings. however u guys wouldnt be allowed. i would suggest the NAV canada builing, the fedex building is good too for u, but personly the road were super connie use to be is top notch. just drive to the gate and u will se all the jets comming or leaveing from the dixie runway.

this week was asom tho, i got go airside with my boss to check out a f18 Rapter take off, boy was that something. and dont ask for pictures it was a "no camera area" lol.

The problem i have with the air show is that it's the same stuff every year, even the routines.

how do u tell the diference between the f18 and f22? they look the same to me, than again i know nothing about planes.

the blue angels are wicked, iv been seeing them all week flying in ther V formation.

an F-16 has a single tail, while the F/A 18's (blue angels, canadian CF-18) have dual tails that angle like a V :)

use to love jets as a kid lol.. i remeber when iw as like 12 i;d go out and buy all these european mags for like 25 a pop haha

the one i was airside with did a have the dual tail wings in a v shape. but the body of the plane i didnt notice strange. my boss told me it was f18, but he could be wrong.

my jobs alright. it pays off when certain planes come in. i got to run airside with the airbus from dubai when it was driving throught the taxi ways i actully got pics of this on my bb pearl.
but whatever jet i seen yesterday was def something else. it took off like nothing and was gone in the air and out of sight within seconds. and the sounds off these planes are amazingly loud.

LOL @ Starscream... Wasn't Starscream originally an F15? Or is that the good-guy Transformer I'm thinking of?

Easiest way to remember your planes: The F16 has a single engine with a crazy intake at the front of the plane, the F18 has two engines. The F22 you don't need to worry about, because they don't land at Pearson :) It's a stealth fighter, "fifth generation" fighter air craft (IE: bleeding edge).

Oh, and F16 = Falcon (Although I think they call them Viper's now?? What's up with that?), F18 = Hornet, F22 = Raptor... Love jets, although I don't follow them that closely. Not like the guys I ran into at the airport today while filming! I was waiting for them to whip out their penis' and start dueling... (One of them reminded me of the Comic book guy from the Simpsons lol)

Oh, here's a video I shot of the Blue Angels landing... I didn't stick around for the Snowbirds, I had a wedding to attend... I also got one of the F16 taking off (Will post later)

Thanks man! I'm posting some other videos. Now this one is TOTALLY bad camera work --- I tried to setup better vantage points and ended up missing the plane from the field of view half the time lol. Enjoy!

i think starscream was an F-15 originally or something like that..

I really hated the fact that they changed him up in the Movie.

One of my favourite planes has to be the F-14 Tomcat though, don;t know what it was that swing wing design i loved it..

i use to make those Revell and Monogram models as a kid lol, and also get high off the glue (thats another story)

but yeah wish i had kept some, i think eventually they all broke due to my lack of care

dude u happen to catch what color truck she was in? if it was a ornage one thats the GTAA thats the company that hires us to do there dirty/hard jobs. if it was a white truck thats royalview the company i work for. as far as i know the only hot girl worken with us is not at the airport

if u guys want to get good pics of planes go to the backend of courntney park it runs along side a runway and theres a nice hill u can sit on. i also recomend convair that strech of road is beautiful to drive on while the planes are landing beside u. i personaly use britannia cause im allowed access there i can see the planes in fantastic view without any fences. not to mention i cut the grass there wich usally takes 4-5 hours and i get to watch all the smaller planes come in and land and all the big ones take off alondside the 401

Yup, I was next to the FedEx building. I initially went to the Courtney Park back roads, but that was on the opposite side of where the planes were. They were taking off along Derry Rd...

I should take up a weekend job that somehow gets me access to the airport lol.
