It's a Giant Crane Fly. Some people call them Mosquito Hawks. The actual adult flies don't feed or eat anything and live for only about 48 hours. Their sole purpose is to mate, lay eggs and renew the reproductive cycle. Maybe he was trying to mate with your lightbulbs. :chuckle

it doesn't need a huge gap to go through..it was probably fluttering around your engine bay, saw light through a hole and squeezed in...then he couldn't get back out...
..or it got in there while you or a mechanic was changing the light bulb :)
That sucks, only lives for 48 hours and gets stuck in your headlight.

Oh my god... how are you supposed to get that out once it dies in there ? It's gonna get baked once the lights turn on...

I would take out the high beam bulb and fish a wire in there with something sticky on the end and get him outta there.
Or....bake your headlight yourself and open it since you have the perfect excuse to install your angel eyes :)

My Hids leave a little gap and he must have flow from under the car up the engine and in the headlights... odd of that actually happening ... like 1:100000000
its my luck!
So far i haven't burnt him tho cuz its been there for 2 days (that i know of) and i been driving with hids on

I think the only way is to remove your bumper, then take out your headlight and shake him out through the high beam socket
