Yep! The A-H who lives across the street spends 10 minutes warming up his pocket rocket at 7:15 every morning and then goes screaming down the street.

I have complained to him, and I am sure the other neighbours have as well. He used to not just run the engine but would rev it really high to get it to warm up. One time he did it at midnight.... I went over there in my bathrobe, much to my wife's chagrin. Jackass said he has to warm it up that way because it has a carburetor. Apparently the bike lacks a choke. It seems enough people complained to his parental unit that he now more or less lets it warm up at "idle", but it is still irritating.

I AM the Problem neighbour

I had a nice neighbour who would rev his tin-can exhaust Civic 10 times to get in to first gear then peel out every day...that is until I kicked in his fender for almost hitting some poor kid waking across the street.

And for spraying the guy with the garden hose for smoking a blunt as he stands in front of my house with my 3 year old nephew playing in the yard

Yap there is. There is an Indian family across my street with twin boys,
they are the nastiest ive ever experienced. They put bag of shit or all this nasty stuff in front of our house, and ring the doorbell like nuts, my mom doesnt speak good english, and these ****ed up kids made fun of & insult her who came out to get the door.
And they have another past of splashing pee at every door on my street.
I got so furious after hearing from my mom and walked up straigt to their dad to warn if i see that kind of messed up behaviour again, id call up police right away. What made me really mad was those kids just denied and denied that it wasnt them and swore to me, untill i showed their dad the recoreded CCTV hidden under the roof. And i heard the dad beating up the kids as i was walking out right away lol

I'd personally teach them a lesson of what happens if they intentionally damage other's property, with a hockey stick.

LOL.... he would too....

Wow those are some crazy neighbours... I thought I had it bad.... my issue is that my walls are PAPER thin, and having to listen to the herd of cows above me gets REALLY irritating... I've asked them nicely to maybe keep the ball-of-foot-stomping around to a minimum as best they could, in order to eliminate everything shaking on my walls, but they could care less. It's the strangest thing I've never heard someone walk around as much as they do.... like they will literally stomp around that tiny space for 3 hours STRAIGHT without sitting down... it blows my mind.

When they're not stomping around at 6am... on WEEKENDS, mind you..... they are playing rock band and just SCREAMING horrible karaoke to it.... sssoooo annoying.

Luckily I have fairly loud speakers to drown them out, but the second I turn up my volume, they get pissed and stomp on the floor really loudly.

So basically they just want me to sit there and listen to them in silence all day/night and I'm not allowed to do anything about it. Wonderful. I'm really trying to resist doing something completely evil for fear of the safety of my car :(

Glad I'm not alone though.... People suck!!!!!!!!!!

Ya, i first thought about that as my option, but i didnt wanna get my hands dirty to fix them, and i heard from somewhere that yelling at kids could cause you trouble if they accept that as threatening. As the matter of fact, these kids got smart mouths that make ppl get mad enough to beat them up, and i dont think myself is that patient enough to not get pissed off. For sure this kids wouldve lied to their parents about that, im pretty sure.

P.S - Let me know if u find out where she lives, ill come over to your place and gladly join you to observe the scene haha

Years ago I used to live in a basement apt at Broadview and Dundas. I had a butch lesbian living above me. As cool as it sounds to be woken up at 3:00am to the sounds of lesbian sex, it's sooooooo not when it's a butch and her big fat girlfriend.

When I lived in an apartment I had an upstairs neighbour who was a budding musician. He tried guitar. He tried singing, which mercifully didn't last long (I think he was Turkish, and it was that voice-cracking, wailing warble kind of singing). Unfortunately he moved onto the bongo drums (no lie) and stuck with them until I moved. He even opened his windows and his door when he was practicing his craft. I think he figured he was good and he was treating us to free music.. until people started screaming at him and threatening to call the cops. Then he closed the windows but not his door.

My current "favourite" neighbour lives a few houses down the street. His front porch is littered with giant stuffed animals and an old, crappy, noisy moped that he uses to chase his unleashed dog whenever it decides to run away up the street. He has some appliances (I think a dryer?) in his driveway with some other garbage and barbecues on the driveway or his front lawn wearing an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt and a fedora while blaring music loud enough to be heard by the entire block.
I think someone must have defiled some of his publicly-stored treasures on display, because he has recently installed a security camera. How do I know this? Because on the big rock in his garden in his front yard he has painted the words "SMILE YOUR ON CANDID CAMERA" (yes, it's misspelled) in bright red letters for all who drive by to see. Makes a great impression on people who are considering buying in the area. I think he considers himself to be the easy-going, casual and fun party guy of the neighbourhood. I consider him to be utterly without class.

Its all good. Hes really nice. I say hi to him all the time. It just gets annoying sometimes when he cranks his music up so loud or turns on his gas pressure washer because its so dam loud. Oh well, guess I just gotta live with it. Better off having one more friend than an enemy

It seems enough people complained to his parental unit that he now more or less lets it warm up at "idle", but it is still irritating.

Does he rev it like he keeps hitting the gas, or is it a slow winding up? My friend has a new Ninja 250 and while it isn't a loud bike, he has to choke it and warm it for about 10 minutes every single morning. With the choke on, any bike will slowly rev up to ~4000rpm and sit there. That is the proper way to warm it. Any 4 cylinder bike like a 600, 750, 1000, etc. always sounds loud and "screaming" no matter what rpm it is at. Not choking the bike and warming it properly isn't good for them at all. The engines are much different than car engines, much tighter tolerances and whatnot, so it's important that they are properly warmed up to avoid damage.

Just because someone chooses a bike over a car doesn't mean he's an *******. He just wants a vehicle that's infinitely more fun than a car and just wants to get to work in the morning.

I get the bike thing. It's the complete disregard for everyone else in the neighbourhood that irks me.

He used to start the thing and then wind it up all the way and keep it there to warm up the engine. At least now he lets it warm up at whatever it will more or less idle at. But once it is warmed up he still gets goes screaming down the street in at full throttle. At 7:00 Sunday morning. And at midnight. And at 2:00 am in the morning. As well as during the day. There are kids in the neighbourhood, and people sometimes actually like to sleep at night.

I get the concept of wanting to drive a bike.

Apparently I'm the problem neighbor in my 'hood. I kept parking my car overnight in front of my house instead of the drive way and eventually someone started complaining and got me ticked twice. I had been parking on the street for months and out of no where two tickets within a week. They were "parking for over 3 hrs" tickets which after some research I discovered are only handed out if a neighbor complains. Funny thing is, no one has said anythng to me.. My neighbor across the street got ticketed once as well (after I stopped parking curbside) and I came home to find said neighbor talkng rather loudly with another neighbor... I'm guessing she blames them... Wonder if it's the same guy who got me ticketed. ---- I wish the police would tell you who filed the report lol. (or better yet, have said neighbor come talk to me... )

I guess this isn't as bad as having to listen to butch lesbo sex every night lol

I'm sure 90% of these problems can be solved by...

A BLOCK PARTY!!!

I forgot which movie that was from...but seriously, most CDN's aren't buddys with their neighbours anymore...when I first lived on my own, my neighbour reminded me that if I ever got hurt, the quickest person to get me to a hospital would've been him...think about that.

Anyway, there are streets all over the GTA that gets a permit to close their little section or a cul-de-sac off for annual block parties for neighbours...it's hard to be a dick to someone that feeds you meat and beers.

Idiot Neighbour #1: I ranted about this twit in another thread but has thrown two sizeable parties so far with guests loitering around the neighbourhood being obnoxious and loud into the wee morning hours. Whatever...next time I will do my civic duty on reporting possible DUI and possible underage drinking.

Idiot Neighbour #2: You and your friends insist on playing basketball in your driveway in the weirdest hours possible. 6AM? check. 11PM->12AM check. It really does not bother me that much however, the wife-unit is pissed about the racket hence it is an issue for me now. They have not been playing the odd hours now that school is back in.

Idiot Neighbour #3 with the riced-out Civic: Why do you insist on driving in second gear accelerating waaaaaay above the posted 40KM/hr limit...in a school zone....every single time you drive though here....night or day? And no, that tin-can fart pipe on your P.O.S. sounds like a cat in agony.

bah.....get off my front lawn....punk

I swear I had the worst neighbours when I was at my parents house. Lovely immigrant neighbours whose kids have no respect for vehicles... neither did their rents... so its a condo townhouse so its a joined driveway.... the smacks on my car and my dads truck from handle bars.. from a bike... is retarded... as there are tons of great stories I'll share my favourite..

so there are two kids one who is about 7yrs old and the other is like 10yrs old both pretty Re-tard lol... one even rides the short bus!!!!

So the oldest short bus rider lol comes home one day.. adn I'm working on my 3 and my gfs rsx just finished claying and waxing... and he comes outside with a full out hammer grabs some rocks from his garden.. (now when I say rocks I dont mean pebbles i mean rocks) and starts hitting the hammer with them... as he yells smashy smashy.... :winner

now a) what is a young kid doing with a hammer b) wtf are his parents c) no safety gear d) the most dangerous thing doing this near my car!!!!

so I say "hey what you doing!!" he looks at me like im the idiot and continues... till I hear a *ting* and i walk to the rear quarter of my car and theres now a nice chip and a chunk of rock.. so I snatch the hammer drag him to the front door and call his mom out explain whats going on and she tells me to leave him alone hes a kid :chuckle

so I let it go.... till he comes back again.. and starts again.. at this point patience gone... so grabbed the hammer toss it in my garage his mom comes out again and I start telling her off... but again Im the idiot.... not the parents not the kid me?? I guess I'm making a big deal about smashing rocks with a hammer in front of two modified cars

Yah it's unbelievable how inconsiderate these people are... I try so hard to be quiet, especially if I'm up late, but they just bang around as loud as they want without even thinking once that they might be disturbing the person below...

Word of advice for anyone looking to get their own place,

Usually I can't hear music through walls in our apartment, it's built really solid. My room is pretty far from the kitchen, and last week when I was doing dishes I wanted to listen to music...

I left my door open and had it probably 3/4 the way up, was a loud talking volume in the kitchen like 35 feet away, through walls and all haha. (Keep in mind this was 2pm on a Sunday...) Then I hear a knocking at the door, I tip toed over and looked through the peep hole. Was the woman from next apartment over that keeps us all up at 1-3am with loud music on Friday nights sometimes, even though we go over and tell her to turn it down. (I work 7am most Saturdays, too) So I basically just ignored her. She was knocking for a good 15 minutes or so till she gave up, haha.

You better have it on the fibre optic cable. Makes a world of difference. Can actually hear a quality difference from 256kbps and 320kbps mp3's with fibre optic. I always go out of my way to find music in 320 now.

My neighbour parks one of his cars on the very edge of our lawn (I'm still living at home) and continues to do so even after being told about it. My dad flips out whenever he goes to mow the lawn. It's actually quite entertaining.

I should think a side-discharge mower point in the "right" direction would solve the problem. If not.. a good sized weed-wacker should do the trick.

Way back when, my 1st apartment I had some AHole people below me. I worked nights and would wake up to hear their music pumping at 2pm and on weekends when I didn't work they would have it cranked until 3am. I complained to my land lord who talked with them, I also mentioned them stealing my mail (Columbia House CDs, about 10, missing only to be heard playing from downstairs but I couldn't prove it). Either or. I got off work at 7am on a Sun. morning (one of the few weekends I did work), took my house speakers, two of them with 12 in. woofers on them, layed them woofer side down on the floor, picked the loudest hip hop/rap thumping song I could find, started playing it and than cranked it. It was an older 6 unit apartment building, wooden structure, and I could feel the floor vibrate from about 20 feet away. It knocked the phone off of the wall in my kitchen and I was loving every minute of it. My girlfriend at the time (wife now) was with me on this as they pissed her off to no end too. Well, they had the nerve to call my land lord (who told me about the call about 2 weeks later) and complain about me. Apparently he just replied to their complaint with "...and you never bothered them before?" and that was the end of the conversation. The land lord was trying to evict them at the time so anything to piss them off was a good thing!!
That is my one story of bad neighbours. Since then, one other apartment and two houses later, my neighbours have been great!!

I live in a condo and similar to mazdabetty, neighbours upstairs to my unit would be heard walking around thump thump on the balls of their feet too. I believe they have a young child, toddler even, would be throwing sh*t on the floor and dropping larger items. If it isn't hardwood, it's laminate that they have, all around (including bedroom cuz I hear nail-like items dropping above me when I sometimes wake up in the early morning).

I complained to property management multiple times and they finally put together a letter addressed to the tenants in the unit above me and gave me a copy as well. Since then, a lot of the noise has ceased.

No other people I've talked to who live in condos hear much at all from upstairs tenants other than the typical washroom-flush or the rare dropping of keys or whatnot.

For a second there I thought mazdabetty lived in a condo ... specifically the unit below mine (takes Rock Band Beatles back out from hiding).

This isnt' really a story about neighbours but about just loud noise during the night.
So where I live they are builiding something (I've heard its a tennis court). Across the street. Ok, that's cool I guess the building across the street is big and pricey so the people want a tennis court. This is being done right above the subway line that runs between Summerhill and St.Clair so they are not allowed to do construction when the subway is running.

What does that mean.................they are doing construction between 2:00am and 7:00am all this week until Sep 28th. This isn't light construction either, where talking jack hammers and huge spotlights that light up my living room.

Got some heavy duty earplugs now, seemed to help last night.

Of course this is legal. If the construction company pays enough, any permits can be granted to them.

Mercifully the dryer which was on his driveway all summer appears to have been moved.. however of course you'll note the car is now on display on his front lawn. Also observe the subtle and tasteful colour matching of the garage and front doors. And speaking of colourful, yes those are Christmas lights strung with great care.

This is the noisy bike that he uses to chase his dog when it runs up the street (regularly), even though it would be faster to go by foot.

Although it seems the big stupid stuffed ape that inhabited his front porch for the last several months has taken up residence elsewhere, it looks like today was laundry day. What a lovely sight. :flaming

I was sorely tempted to see what the note is that's pasted on his front door, but the door was slightly ajar so I figured it was some kind of prank/trap. Plus it's scary enough that he's already got me taking pictures of his stuff on video now.. we'll see what becomes of that.

FYI, your neighbour is most likely a schizophrenic on meds. I am being entirely serious BTW.

Hmmm.. that would actually explain a lot and makes sense. It would also explain why he takes the bike and for a lap around the block every morning just before 07:00 for no apparent reason.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll just look at it that way, assuming he's got some mental disorder and it will help me accept his erratic behaviour.

Yah, I'm pretty sure he has some mental issues and schizophrenia fits perfectly. I have some experience with this as a girl I dated for 3 years many moons ago now, had a father who was a paranoid schizophrenic. He actually worked as a bus driver for the TTC if you can believe it. When he took his meds, he was still a little odd, but functional. When he stopped taking his meds, cause well, he was paranoid of them, he was not so normal. The body also builds up tolerances to the meds, so they need to increase dosage or change them a lot. At least back then they did.

Man the stories I have during this time...to give you an example, when he started to get really bad, he boarded up all the windows to their house with plywood, but not before he painted a picture of a window, drapes and a potted plant sitting on the windowsill right on the plywood. In the other window, he drew a picture of a person peeking through the drapes as he figured this would keep 'them' away... He also had enough canned food, liqour and cigarettes stored in the basement and in the ceilings and walls etc. to last at least 5 years in the event of Armegeddon. I'm pretty sure that house still has stuff hidden away...
LOL. Good times. :)

True enough. With the ex-gf's father, one bad episode culminated with him out in the front year with a shotgun (he had lots of guns...), his wife thrown on the ground and his daughter hanging off his back. He had enough sense still to realize that he needed to put the unloaded gun down once the SWAT team arrived. Ah, goodtimes. :)

Antipsychotics- no....

Every pain medication under the sun including Oxy and Morphine- check...

Dad's got chronic knee pain due to severe osteoarthritis in both knees. Needs a double knee replacement (it's happening in November)

So you know what that means.... new prescriptions :pop

That actually makes sense with the 3 hour limit ticket. I mean, do they really have the resources to send someone out, checking to see parked cars, marking them down, coming back 3 hours later and see if they are still there?

That would also explain my old neighbors. At my our old house before we moved, the neighbors beside us and across from us were friends we each other...but were pretty snobby and avoided us. A friend of mine from the states was visiting and decided to park on the street in front of their house. Got a ticket. Everyone else that parked on the street? Nothing.

At current house, I've had friends park on the street for a party and sometimes staying over night. No tickets. And current street is worse since there's only parking on one side of the street but old place has parking on both.

But having said that, I think parents in general these days are lazy and let their kids get away with everything...or at least in my area...since I have kids riding bikes in the middle of the street with no helmet. And when seeing cars coming, they just stay there. Or playing hockey in the middle of the street and not moving. Or setting up a small "ramp" in the middle of the street and not moving it.
