.. is this normal?

I got my car a month ago from a dealership so everything should be fine and satey tested... but when i step on my brakes *SOMETIMES* i hear a CLUNG sound. esspeically if a lightly release and then step on it harder... like if I'm rolling forward at a stop light. Today the noise esscalted... and I also felt the brakes not as smooth (I dont know if its jus me steping on it differently) but I was like light pressing it and it would jerk the car...:whoa

It sounds like something is clamping

anyone else experience this? Know what the problem could be? I could bring it into Mazda since I still have warranty (they dont charge to look at it do they? how long does that that...never used warranty before)

you should probably bring it back to the dealer you bought it from to avoid any charges. if they can't resolve it then take it to your nearest mazda dealer.

Brakes have bunch of moving parts, so it's hard to tell what is wrong soley based on your description. Could be a broken brake pad. Could be a missing shim. Could be the parking brake sticking and grabbing.

Start by reading through the paperwork you got from the dealer when you bought the car. Most dealers will give some sort of warranty on their used vehicles. That way you know up front that the agreement is. Then go back to the dealership... it there is a warranty no need to talk to the sales guy, just do the the service department and talk the them. If there isn't any warranty, well then I would talk to the sales guy and see if he will do anything for you.
