Do you mean the the metal shield that is inside the lamp assembly? If so, you can remove it with a pair of angled needle nose pilers and lots of patience. Basically reach in with the pliers through the bulb opening, grab the shield, and bend it back and forth until it snaps off. Them pull it out through the hold

i got the piece broken off but i can't seem to get it out of the hole. I've been trying to fold the sides in and it's almost there but it just gets stuck every time.

grab in from the inside.... get the jaws of the pliers on the inside of the piece, open the jaws so they are pressing on the inside of the tube part and try that. should give you more wiggle room.

You'll have no way to fix them back on. They'll be destroyed from all the effort to get them out

If its broken off inside. Try using the needle nose pilers to squeeze the metal peice and deform it so that it can be taken out by slowly wiggling it out

yea...tried that for a couple hours to no avail...will try again next weekend...lol
a bit off topic, but for those of you who have HID fogs how did you guys get the bulb to fit in? by just bending the shield a bit?

you just need a lot of patience... took me a good 2 hours to get them out. Getting the needle nose pliers to grab on is the hardest part. As stated, Just need to deform it enough to get it out

I have an HID conversion kit (Xtreme) installed for my 9006-style fog lights on my 2007 Mazda 3 and it did not require the antiglare shields to be removed.

That's because the 07-09 antiglare shields have a different design. The shields on the 04-06 need to be removed or the bulbs won't fit into the housings.

I'm running a set of H11 3000K HIDs in my fogs WITH the shield still in place. They are blinding without the shield.
Dan/McGuyver installed them for me. All you have to do is to take a big flat head screw driver and push on the sheild. It will fold slight out and forward, allowing just enough space for the bulb.
