Just picked up my car last night. Had a pretty good experience with Avante Mazda in Richmond Hill. The folk there are pretty nice...and the sexy girl at the front desk was just a nice touch.
anyway, i purchased through a dude named Antonio and my financial services mgr was Victor. They were both great. The features were explained to me in detail. I never really felt pressure in purchasing the car. Was well informed of the warranty extras and was slightly pressured but nothing I couldn't handle. (I ended up not purchasing extra warranty though...mathematically, it just didn't seem worth it to me.)
There was one item that I pushed back on though. I was told that the car was to arrive in 6-8 weeks. Of course, I bit my lip and told myself to be patient. But that wasn't the problem. THe problem was...the car arrived early on the 29th and I was told that I absolutely HAD to pick it up on the 30th.
Obviously, I was pleased that it arrived early but I needed to transfer some bank funds around in order to put the deposit that i wanted to put down. As you know it takes at least 48 hours (sometimes 72) to transfer bank funds and process either a certified check and/or cash. I could have picked it up immediately but I'm a math and finance whiz and i wanted to bring my monthly payments down regardless if it's 0% interest.
To me...they were saying..."Your money is good today...but not good tomorrow." Why did i have to take the car by that day? I was told that it was the end of a promo thing or something rather...not very clear there and since the promo would have been over anyway should it have arrived in 8 weeks, I called the BS out. I used to be in sales..I get it. It's the end of the month. They need to hit their numbers. But why do I need to be on the hook for their numbers? In anycase, I pushed back to them. They conceded. It's not like I lived far so I agreed to do paperwork on that day but pick up my car when I feel like it.
Other than that, I would say that my experience was a great one. I'm extremely happy with the service. I would definitely recommend going there again to buy another vehicle and would recommend anybody to utilize Antonio and Victor's services. They are very helpful in helping me make my decisions.
I would say that the most important thing to understand when purchasing a car is YOU. You must know what YOU want, Know what YOU are able to do financially, and know when YOU need to push back to the dealership. I was actually quite nervous buying my first NEW car but everything turned out great because I did all my homework.
Next Step...winter tires from the Group Buy, Tinting and Rust Proofing...and maybe a fake finance question just to peek at that sexy girl again. :blush
