So today I picked up a Michelin HydroEdge wiper blade from Costco. It was $12, which I think is an amazing deal. I recently replaced the passenger side, as it was completely destroyed when I bought the car. The driver side was on its way out, but seeing the good deal today, I decided I should replace it before winter hits full force.

All is fine and well, and installation was straight forward. However, after installing it, and turning the car on, I noticed that when the wiper is at full deflection (ie most left position from the driver's seat), it actually goes beyond verticacl, and hits the edge of the window. I'm pretty sure that it didn't do that before with the old wiper. Did i break it during installation? I know it took some force to get the old blade off, and the new one on, but i didn't think it was enough to break the wiper arm.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Well...

First: is the replacement blade the same length as the old one?

If so, then it does look like something has been damaged: ent the wiper arm, bent wiper linkage, or rotated the wiper arm on it's shaft.

Both are 21", and I even compared them before installing it to make sure.

Well, in that case the simplest fix is to loosen the nut that holds the wiper arm on, rotate the wire arm a bit on the shaft (may have to pull it off the shaft a bit to disengage the splines ("teeth") before it will rotate) and then tighten the nut.

I'm a little confused... Are you talking about the passenger side? Cuz that side is supposed to be 19". Driver side is 21".

edit: nvm, read it again. Is it pushed down all the way? Mine kept coming out of place when I installed mine... not sure why, that would give it an extra .5in or so... weird. Maybe the packaging was labeled incorrectly! haha

No, I replaced the driver side today. I replaced the passenger side a few months ago with a cheap one from Canadian tire (cheap at CT being $14)....

Yeah the correct size is 19" passenger and 21" driver

I tried doing that today, but after I removed the bolt, at seemed like the wiper arm was welded (or extremely rusted) into place. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Upon closer inspection it looks like the end cap on the blade (which is slightly wider than normal) is hitting the side of the window frame. That very small difference is what's causing it to hit.
