Ohhh nothing major, just a mini rant regarding the RETARDS we share our roads with.
So pull out of my driveway and start to drive around the bend, approaching a parked car on the OTHER side of the road, when some dumb girl (in a mazda 3 ironically) is pulling up at the same time in the opposite direction.
There's only enough room for one car to pass, so I'm driving along normally and am almost passed the parked car, but slow down because this retard decides to speed up and not let me by...???
wtf????
Now usually it's common courtesy for the person coming from BEHIND the parked car to move over and let the oncoming car pass right? That's how it's always done, that's how my entire neighbourhood does it when there's a parked car on our tiny roads, it's just common courtesy! (ESPECIALLY considering I was passing the car first!!!).
So I thought, 'okay, she's gonna move over behind the car and let me through when she realizes her mistake....' What does she do? She moves up even more into MY lane, and puts her car in park.
WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!
I sat there for a minute thinking "she can't be serious..." So not wanting to stoop down to "idiot" level I decided to be the bigger person and REVERSE in the middle of the road to let HER through, EVEN THOUGH all she had to do was move her steering wheel to the right for 2 SECONDS while I finished passing.
The icing on the cake was when she drove passed me with a GIANT smile on her stupid face. She doesn't have a clue what she did wrong... ugh...
Yah thanks. Let's hope karma does it's job today :flaming Well hope everyone else is having a FANTASTIC monday!!!!! LOL
Thanks for readingggg, ENDDDDD rant.

You just described my morning drive...almost every morning :(, when I get my truck next year the first thing it's getting is an air-horn....and some push bars..
Don't you love Mondays? But I feel your pain.
It is very infuriating when someone does something wrong and they are completely oblivious to it.

wow.... that is sad... and yah a random post haha, but see that just goes to show you. Accidents like that begin with people who are ignorant to the rules of the road and just have no regard for anyone else sharing the roads with them.

I wouldn't have let her through; if she's in your lane, you have the right of way; if a collision happens, she's at fault (assuming the road is marked with a center line).

I'm guessing no center line as from what I gather, it's a side street which they usually don't mark. That being said, yes, it's usually the person who doesn't have to move over to get around a car that has the right of way.

I feel your annoyance. The morons around here treat the side streets as their personal race track. I always have to slow down before any intersection just because I'm afraid of being nailed in a head-on collision.

you can't do that the pain won't last long enough, you need to tie him up and repeatedly shoot him in the nuts at 20 feet with paintballs for the rest of his miserable existance. I'm sure you'll have no shortage of people lining up to take that job, first in line is the driver of the car (assuming he survives and is in reasonable health and state of mind). oh and as an aside, nothing can ever make up for this but based on the news reports of the people who did die in the mini van, to have been ejected they must not have been wearing seat belts, the driver who stayed in the car and has a chance to survive I'm pretty sure that he was wearing a seat belt.
2 lessons here:
1 ) don't be a douche get drunk and drive mach 2 on side streets
2) in case people don't learn from lesson 1 please wear your seat belt

i would have put the car in park, got out with my coffee and lit up a smoke.
see how long that smile lasted.

Not that I disagree with you --- Always wear your seat belts. I can't help but wonder if being ejected from the vehicle in this case helped them at all? The BMW cut through the van entirely... If you were in the BMW's path you probably would have been mangled? Not a pleasant thought either way... :/

true also... but helped them at all? As far as I know and i'm not an expert on death (but I have played the grim reaper at halloween) but I don't think that there are degrees of being dead. I'm trying to think of what your saying and the only thing that might make "being ejected from the vehicle in this case helped them at all?" make sense is if your taking it to mean that because they were ejected they died quicker and didn't suffer as much? Is that what you meant by it being "helped" I'm not trying to be morbid but just trying to understand.

I'm no expert on seat belts but are they made to withstand 200km collisions? Logically wouldn't something going fast enough to slice a vehicle in half be able to break a seat belt?

I don't think you always die if you get ejected from the vehicle (Although statistically it's much safer to stay inside the car than get ejected...) But in this case, the car is being breached by a high speed vehicle/projectile and they were in the direct path. I'm just wondering if their odds were better being ejected and taking their chances at surviving vs 200km/h BMW... Like I said, not a pleasant thought either way.

if I had the time, and expertise, ( I have some of one and not enough of the other [let you decide which is which:chuckle]) I'd do a mathematical computer simulation of the impact and acceleration consequences of both scenarios. To a point you are right a slower deceleration can should reduce injuries, but then you have to take into account the way in which you hit the pavement, and any other secondary impacts. I'm getting tired and a little bit morbund keeping talking about this, lets just agree that in most situations it's a safer bet to keep your seatbelt on, and leave to what if's to themselves.

I wasn't trying to provoke a debate or anything like that... I was simply stating that I agreed with you that seatbelts should always be worn. I thinking outloud if anything, wondering if in this case they were better off being ejected rather than being mowed down by a 200km/h car that tore the van apart. -- Hell, we don't even know that they weren't wearing seat belts..
But yeah, agreed that staying in the car is safer (I remember reading about some dude who lost his brakes going down some mountain side highway in the USA... He paniced and ditched the vehicle before it could spin out of control and crash... leaving all the passengers to fend for themselves. --- He died and everyone inside was fine... :chuckle

Seat belts have force limiters so when the force is sufficient to cause damage to internal organs, it slips.
In any case, an E39 5-series hitting you from the side at 200km/h? The only thing that will help is the Hand of God...
Incidentally, I had to call 911 on an idiot in a jacked-up pick-up yesterday. He was playing chicken with completely innocent on-coming traffic repeatedly. I can only hope that the police picked up him, found drugs on him, and tossed his butt in jail.
